I bought Venari for $3.49 on sale.

Thanks for the walkthrough link, sureshot. Yes, that is the one I had found but I haven't used it yet. Did not get to play today. So far I have only played two times and the controls changed on me somehow. When I first started playing I didn't know how to move around at all so I went to the Steam discussions and found that you use the D, Q, S, & Z keys but the second time when I played those keys didn't work and the (normal) WSAD keys worked. Weird!

Yes - that is weird oldbroad ! I never liked playing games using Keyboard controls. I bought a gaming mouse a while back - it has programable buttons that you can assign the game's keyboard controls to the mouse's buttons. Besides, it leaves my left hand free to hold my drink whistle

That's a great price for Venari ! I know you will enjoy it too.

It's not the years honey, it's the mileage!

"Sherlock Holmes The Awakened" (remastered) installed to Win10

"Art of Murder (2) : Hunt for the Puppeteer" installed to Win7

And ....

"Murder in the Abbey" installed to WinXP

All of which will probably keep me occupied for YEARS !!!! lol lol lol

LOL, Mad. Enjoy! I've still been trying to get back to a replay of Murder in the Abbey. One of these days.

I am still looking forward to playing Murder of the Abbey for the first time. I want to play the Director's Cut. The Zoom Platform has it and it says it works on Windows 7/10/11.

Mad, let me know what you think of the remastered Awakening. I have played the original a couple of times.

We finished Inspector Waffles and have started King's Quest VI. Legend Entertainment will be coming up pretty soon.

I played the original Murder in the Abbey but I will be trying to play the Director's Cut for my replay. I have it from Steam but I do seem to remember reading (I think somewhere in this thread) that something in it didn't work on Win 10 (though I'm not sure without going back to look).

I never played all of the original Sherlock Holmes games yet but I did play the Awakening (sort of). The graphics were all messed up when I played it but I didn't know and thought that it was supposed to look that way. I didn't really like it. I later found out that it had something to do with some driver that I should have installed or something like that. The game was all distorted. I have the remastered version on my wishlist but keep wondering if I should even bother purchasing it. I would like to attempt to replay the original since I have started replaying the Sherlock Holmes games. The remastered one will probably just give me motion sickness. Even some of the original Sherlock Holmes games made me nauseous. I think The Awakening did and I know the Arsene Lupin game did but I was never able to finish that one anyway because my computer broke down while playing it. I have since bought two other versions of them and I think they are "remastered" to play differently and not cause nausea. I love Jack the Ripper stories but somehow never played that SH game. Again, one of these days!

The Steam page here says this version is Windows 7 and 10 compatible (the last thing mentioned under descriptions).

I have never played SH versus Jack the Ripper either. One of these days...

Well, gee thanks, Marian. I don't know if I ever read about those "enhancements" some of which don't particularly sound good to me.

There might be some confusion on The Awakened game. The game originally came out in 2006 and was remastered in 2008 and it's this 2008 version that is labeled "Remastered". The game was remade in 2023 and this version is called "Sherlock Holmes The Awakened". The one that's labeled "Remastered" is the older one.

You can see all of the games here: Sherlock Holmes Franchise. The newer one is on the top of the list and the "Remastered" one is down near the bottom.

Thanks Uncle Reg. I knew what I was talking about with the different versions but may not have stated it all properly.

And I'm quite certain Mad is talking about the newly made game being installed on her Windows 10.

A quick update on Sherlock Holmes The Awakened (re-mastered) 2008 : Installed to my Win10 machine.

I am really enjoying this version yay
The graphics are good and there is a helpful "guide" included.
Which I always need when a use of gadgets is involved - such as with Sherlock's scientific experiments at his Baker Street premises !! 😁

AND then there is that splendid choice of 1st or 3rd person play yes
[Probably welcome for oldbroad as I know she (and others, of course) can have problems with the type of movement this game uses in 1st person.]

Altogether I am impressed so far thumbsup

Thanks for the update Mad. As I stated in the glitches thread, I really thought you were trying to play the new remake. Are you planning on playing that one also?

What you mention about the 1st or 3rd person play is what I though the remasters of the old games back then was for. I still am not sure which one I played. I'm sure I played from my disc but I don't know for sure where the disc is. It isn't worth my effort though to find it.

I am almost at the end of Part 1 of 11-11 Memories Retold. I think there are 4 Parts. I am in Chapter 5 of The Ransom of Atawallpa and I think there are 15, so I am a long way off from finishing either of these games.

Hi Ladies.

I hope you both enjoy whatever you play 👍

KQV1 is my favourite of that series, Marian and I have played it MANY times 🤗

No. I doubt I will buy yet another release of The Awakened, oldbroad.
I think the several I already have is quite enough !! 😉

Well, paint my face red because I don't know where my information is coming from. I could have sworn you bought this game. I guess I must be thinking of something else. Anyway, I'm glad you are enjoying the one that you are playing now!

King's Quest VI is also my favorite King's Quest game, closely followed by King's Quest IV. It was the first game in the series for which Roberta Williams wasn't the main designer, which made me slightly worried. My concerns were totally uncalled for, of course, since the then-unknown Jane Jensen had taken her place.

I meant to mention that we finished King's Quest VI with only one point missing out of the total points possible. Good thing we don't have OCD or this would no doubt drive us crazy. wink

I'm getting so frustrated!!! I am near the end of Part 3 which is near the end of the game (11-11 Memories Retold). I keep getting killed. I have watched the video several times and have tried in game at least 20 times on more than one occasion. I am getting sick even just watching the video. I wish games like this would have some trigger to let you proceed after a certain amount of tries. I really hate to give up on the game now. I don't even know why I put myself through this but so many of these type of games are good, I can't help but try sometimes.

That does indeed sound really frustrating, ob. I always rely on my son to get me through situations like this. For many years he lived far away and wasn't able to help me, so I realize how lucky I am when he is around.

Replaying Nancy Drew: The Final Scene at this time.
