Good Morning Connie, Draclvr, BeaSong, hagatha, Fogfighter, soot and everyone! Sounds like you all had a busy day yesterday. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready to enjoy on this chilly morning. How did the goat nail trimming go BeaSong? Draclvr I can't believe you have time and energy to do all that canning and prepping of veggies! But it is worth it I'm sure!! Hope you all enjoy a great day! Gerry

Good morning everyone. A bit late today but the WADDB helps getting started. The September is unusually pleasant this year. Yesterday I enjoyed coffee outdoors. Was visiting a local sci fi bookshop for the off chance of finding a missing magazine. No such luck so enjoyed their coffee instead. Today 19 Celsius and cloudy. Happy Tuesday GameBoomers

I was up especially early today because one of my smoke detectors started chirping in the wee hours. Normally with these things I would simply unplug it and have a look at it later to see if it's the battery, but not this time - I can't unplug it, I can't get the back off to see if it's the battery, and there isn't enough wire to pull it down and have a good look at it. I can put in on Silent mode but that only lasts a couple of hours. Hope I can get an electrician in today, because the cats are both terrified. Not a nice start to the day.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Tuesday morning! Nice and cool this morning after more blessed rain last night!
Hagatha, I laughed when I read your smoke detector story! Quite a few years ago, I drove the 10 hours up to NW Iowa to visit my mom. She was in the nursing home at the time, but we were wanting to see if we could bring her back home. So I was alone in her house the first night. The smoke detector on the ceiling started going off in the middle of the night. Nothing I did would stop it and she didn't have any replacement batteries. I finally unplugged it from the ceiling - and it STILL was beeping, so I put it in the kitchen and closed my bedroom door. Nope, I could still hear it. Finally, I put it out in her garage inside her car and was able to get some sleep! Bought new batteries the next day!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Hagatha I sure hope you can get the alarm fixed today! Poor kitties! Soot we are experiencing cooler weather too, but we have not seen much sun in days...cloudy days making for a very cold house! I wish we could get some of that rain Draclvr...it has been 18 days without a drop of rain. Have a great day everyone! Gerry

Good morning everyone. Hagatha, your smoke detector story brought back old memories and smiles. Years ago, one of our detectors started chirping and wouldn't stop (even with new batteries) and like Draclvr it ended spending the night in the garage out of sight and out of earshot. Enjoying knäckebröd, WADDB and donuts this morning before getting started on the day's projects and chores to include prep for Tropical Storm Helene. Have a great Hump Day 🐪 everyone

Good Wednesday morning. A glorious sunny coolish day here!
Looks like I will be working up those two buckets of tomatoes by myself today... my friend has to be at home to pay her landscapers when they get done today. We'd like to get her guy to come out here and rebuild a retaining wall which is leaning over and needs to be reset. I built this wall about 23 years ago, but I'm sure not going to rebuild it at my age!
Just going to sit and enjoy my WADDB for now!

Good morning everyone.
Soot, I found an excellent video on YouTube about how to deal with a chirping Kidde smoke detector, the exact same model I have in my house. The non-chirping detector is now sitting on my desk with a new battery in it. I haven't tested it because it will scare the cats, so I'll wait until they're both outside. As it's pouring rain, that won't be today.
Speaking of pouring rain, good thing I FINALLY got my lawn mowed. It was getting pretty long. It looks awful, though. At least when it was four inches high it looked nice and green. It's time to talk to my landscapers about turning it into something else. Also, the pond is draining water again. I think every time we have a small earthquake offshore the pipe moves a little.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I built this wall about 23 years ago, but I'm sure not going to rebuild it at my age! Really? That's the first time I have seen any sign of you slowing down Drac, and you are only two years older than me! Today I have a coffee and speculative fiction assignation with a 95 year old lady who is still very much on the ball, so I am feeling quite young and spritely in comparison...

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! We are finally going to get some much needed rain today after close to 3 weeks with none! For 3 weeks we have had couldy days with just a hint of sunshine so I'm hoping we will see some sunshine after the rain! Have a Happy Thursday! Gerry

Good morning Connie, Gerry, Lex, SQF, Hagatha, Draclvr, Fogfighter, OldBroad, BeaSong and all who get the chance to pop in for a visit. Monitoring Helene and getting ready to batten down the hatches for strong winds--we can use the rain. Enjoying WADDB and bagels. Have a good Thursday everyone.

Good Thursday morning! After doing some HTML conversion for a couple of new games here at Gameboomers, I am heading outside to start my last round of weeding. We had just enough rain. Hubby is going to till up the garlic bed and get that planted this week too. Where we live, you plant the bulbs in October and harvest them the following summer.
And league bowling tonight.
Watching Hurricane Helene and hoping for minimal damage, but it sounds like it could get ugly. Connie, stay safe!

Good Morning Connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha, Fogfighter and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready along with some danish and bagels. Connie hope you are safe from the hurricane and soot you are too. High winds can do a lot of damage. Keeping all those in the path of the storm in my prayers. Hope everyone has a peaceful day! Gerry

Good morning everyone. The WADDB helps coping with the shock of 7 Celsius and rain. At least no hurricanes over here. Also a consolation that the weekend is coming. Happy Friday and stay safe GameBoomers.

Good morning everyone.
I'm glad to hear you're okay, Connie and Soot. Stay safe.
Nothing much happening here. Our weather is wet and windy and Dude is quite clearly annoyed with me for not fixing it. Last year we had drought conditions and I lost a few shrubs but there's no fear of that this year. Even my lawn looks pretty good. I'm off to Pilates this morning and then out shopping.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
