Soot and connie, so glad to hear you are both safe. Reports of deaths in the are where Helene came ashore are trickling in. Watched a doorbell camera recording of the storm surge in a place called Cedar Key - unbelievable. We will probably get some rain out of this storm tomorrow.

Heading out to get my COVID and flu shots this morning. Then have to come right back home and take hubby back over there to an eye doctor appointment. He gets injections in his eye for macular degeneration and can't drive after the shot.

Good Saturday morning! Hubby's big breakfast aside, it's time for a nice sit-down with my WADDB.

After Hurricane Helene delivered death and destruction to so many, she drizzled about an inch on us up there in east central Missouri. So, I'm going to pull up all the soaker hoses today and put them away for the winter as I won't have to water again this fall. Then it's back to the final weeding of the year. I'm having everything mulched next year, so it shouldn't be quite as bad. Lex, that's another one of those things I used to do, but don't any more! My back and knees are just no longer up to the task.

Fogfighter, yikes! Now that is COLD! I'm really not ready for that just yet!

I woke up to a cold house this morning; it went down to about 9 degrees C last night. I'm back to having a fire every evening while I watch TV. Today I'll et some patio cleanup done and put the outdoor carpet away for the winter.

Good morning everyone, and a cold one it is here.

We're having a public holiday today; Truth and Reconciliation day. My Pilates instructor is working, so I'll be getting my workout. After that I think I'll start cleaning up the garden and outdoor furniture for Fall. It's too cold to sit outside now.

Good Monday morning! A rather glorious day today with lots of sunshine. A trip in town to the grocery store is on my list for today. Then heading out to pick peppers today. I'm hoping to find enough of those bright yellow Fatalii peppers to make a hot sauce. They are just starting to get ripe. If I have enough of the ripe red hot peppers, will smoke a batch. My giant jalapenos are getting ripe to, so will smoke some of those and dehydrate and turn into chipotle powder.

Draclvr, smoked peppers sound wonderful. I do miss my greenhouse and raised beds, which I had at my old place. John and I always grew tomatoes and peppers and cucumbers. My current garden doesn't really have enough room to build raised beds or a greenhouse.

Plumber fixed all but one issue...he will need to come back...looks like the connecting flexible pipe he replaced is still leaking where it connects.

Seems to have worked. At least on my side. I sent you some of the cold with FedEx and now I have decent 9 Celsius and sunshine. No frost this night.
Over here apple jam production is on the agenda. Some apples are still availale, I expect to make a few jars.

Good Tuesday morning! I think I may have sent all my hummers down your way, soot. I haven't seen one for several days not. I keep a feeder up until at least October 15 for any stragglers.

Going to dig up that bed of purple phlox today. I dread it! Hubby is out rolling up walnuts. They are so huge this year! I think he has at least 10 fifty pound feed sacks full so far - and the tree is still loaded! We take them to a place that has machinery to remove the green hulls and wash the walnuts. A friend of ours takes most of them, but we will keep some. Then comes the job of cracking those walnuts! Hubby has this thing that looks like a medieval torture device that cracks them. Then comes picking the nuts out! It's a good cold winter day job to just sit and pick nuts!
