Good Wednesday morning! It got pretty chilly last night - I think it's about 45 degrees right now. But the sun is shining and it looks to be a beautiful day ahead.
Got that purple phlox bed dug out yesterday. Sheesh what a job. I found a small clump of poison ivy, so carefully dug it up and tossed it aside! Hubby will do cleanup for me today, hauling away all the roots and dead stems. Then I need to till it up and rake out any remaining roots. My new shrubs are arriving tomorrow and I want to get them in ASAP so they have a good head start this fall.
Going to take my WADDB and head on over to LadyKestrel's Halloween Tourney at Mystery Manor to torture my brain cells for a while. I think I might actually have a chance at one of this week's adventure game quizzes. Any and all are welcome to participate and there will be prizes!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Good morning everyone.
It's cold here, too. The leaves will be down soon. Once they are finally all bagged up I'll have the gutters cleaned. Last year I had them done too early and I have a couple of overflows.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Thursday morning! Another cool and sunny start to the day.
PIcked 3 buckets of tomatoes and 2 buckets of hot peppers yesterday. Put on another hot pepper and garlic mash to start fermenting. My super hot bright yellow Fatalii peppers are finally starting to ripen. I am going to make a Caribbean style hot sauce and one with pears and lemon. My god daughter's husband designed another label for me with a skull and crossbones on it! I was going to till up that big phlox bed I dug out, but I just heard the tiller out there and hubby did it for me. Yay! Going to plant a mixture of low growing shrubs there - zero maintenance!
League bowling tonight.
Hagatha, I sure hope the last of your stitches are gone!

Hi all,
Yes, the stiches are gone, and the little buttons that were sewed over the teeth to protect the stitches I'm having a second gum grafting surgery in late December or early January. That ought to tide my gums over until I'm too old to care!
Had a walk around the garden with the landscaper today. I think I'll add some lawn care into the mix, as it looks quite dreadful now. I have no desire to take care of it myself; my attitude towards my lovely garden is that i want to sit in it, not work in it.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha and everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew awaits! That is a lot of work Draclvr, but I guess the reward makes it worth it! I agree hagatha I let the landscaper take care of the yard...I just want to enjoy it! Hope you all have a good Friday. Gerry

Good Friday morning! Chilly and sunny again - perfect morning to sit with my WADDB and tickle my brain cells with LadyKestrel's Halloween Tourney quizzes at Mystery Manor too. I was flying alone with the colors one, but am stuck.
Got my new plants yesterday, so will head out and get them in the ground later. Hubby laughed at me... We have walnuts falling by the hundreds every day which he picks up in a rolling wire basket. I used a bunch of them to lay out my new bed and he wondered how they fell in such a symmetrical pattern!

Good morning everyone. I'm off to Pilates and then maybe a day of nothing. I've been feeling quite exhausted lately and I've decided that It's time to rest a bit after the two years of strife; sifting through 40 years of life together and then moving, and then setting up a new home. I've been urging myself to get out and do things and make a new life, find a hobby, join a group, but truth be told, I think I need to lower my expectations since doing those things would require me to be a different person altogether. I like the quiet simplicity of living in my nice house with my two cats and seeing the friends I have now. It's good enough for the time being.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, after I lost my second husband, I was quite content to just be home with my animals. I was still working and got plenty of interaction there and that was more than enough. I think your plans to kind of back off sound peaceful and fulfilling to me!

Good morning everyone! Emergency rations of instant coffee and knäckebröd are available in the break room. Over here 6 Celsius and heavy fog over the area. Is expected to clear out later today. It seems my PC problems are fixed now. Which is a good thing. Happy Saturday Gameboomers!!

Good Morning everyone! Fogfighter thanks for those "rations". Glad to hear your computer is fixed. I put on the Wide Awake double Dark brew! Hagatha I understand the turmoil you have been thru and it sounds perfect to me enjoy your quiet living with your 2 cats and nice new home! I'm having a plumbing issue...the faucet needs replacing in the bathroom tub...never a simple project in an old house. It means cutting a hole in the wall behind the tub to get at pipes and replace the fixture. The drip from the faucet has gotten worse...got an estimate of the cost last week and hope to replace it next week. Hope you all have a great Weekend! Gerry

Good Saturday morning! Nice and sunny and heading for the mid-80's today.
My house is well over 100 years old, but one of the things I did when I gutted it down to the studs, was to completely replace all the plumbing and electrical wiring. And leaking water issues will cause MUCH worse problems down the road, so I wouldn't delay getting that leak fixed, oldbroad!
Got the old smoker ready to go and will head out to get it started and load it up with some ripe jalapenos! Got a small batch of them in the dehydrator for hubby's hot pepper sprinkles. And I picked a small box of my pretty bright yellow Fatalii peppers. Hope to experiment with a hot sauce with them tomorrow.
I was telling Ana last night that I think I'm about ready for a blizzard so I can just sit around and game or read!

Good Saturday morning everyone.
That's the nice thing about buying an almost-new house; there won't be any major issues for a long time, and probably not while I own the place. It was part of my reasoning for buying here in a semi-rural area instead of moving to Victoria, where house prices are much higher, which would have meant I had to buy a 60 or 70-year old house. The downside is missing out on the perks of city living. I suspect once the cats are both gone I'll buy myself a nice condo looking out over Victoria's harbour.
