Yeah, for me: chapter replays help in re-enjoying the game. But no manual saves (only one save slot per game) is a deal-breaker for me. Other games (major games and indie games) have manual saves...not a LOT of them, but enough of them (some of which are console port overs)...so it IS possible to program them in. Not doing so, IMHO, is a slap in the face to many gamers, especially older ones (like me) who can afford to buy their games without asking mommy and daddy for the $$. Older gamers like to take their time playing, can't always sit for hours in front of a PC, and enjoy re-visiting areas of a game without having to play a game (or even a chapter) from the beginning.
But: they're going to make their money, so....certain DEVs don't think programming in manual saving is worthwhile.

As a small comment, I don't like the middle mouse back function...

I have a scroll wheel I have to click. I like it. That "Back" in the lower right hand side of the screen was a pain for me. The 360 panning was a bit fast. I had to adjust it in options. It does slow the cursor way down depending on your setting. I did find that sweet spot. I did not like having to move the cursor down to that lower right side every time I needed to back out of a situation. I have a 27" monitor and had to slide the mouse aways to get there. Clicking the wheel was so much nicer

I'll see if I can get an answer on the "quit auto save" Uncle Reg. Hopefully these 5 minute saves comes with a notification so you would know when to quit, not a long time. I have asked about that notification along with a couple more questions pertaining to these saves

There is a broadcast running the demo now. It's in French

Microids has answered our questions robedits:

Quote

Q : Do auto saves, roughly every 5 minutes, fill the 3 slots within 15 minutes or so or are the 3 slots for 3 players each owning their own slots?
A : At the beginning of your game, you will chose between 3 saves slots, the auto saves will be written specifically on those slots. Each slot has its own progression.

Q : Do the auto saves save on exit?
A : No auto saves on exit. Before exiting, you will get a message indicating how much time has past after your last save.

Q : I take it there will be a notification when an auto save has taken place?
A : Yes there will be a notification on each auto save.

Q : Continue an option?
A : Each start of the game, you'll have to chose between your 3 slots, once you entered your slot with your progression you'll be able to chose a "continue" option indeed. You will be able to restart a chapter once you finished the game.

Thanks for showing your interest in the game, I can assure you that we spend time at the studio reading you.

I like "Before exiting, you will get a message indicating how much time has past after your last save." They have really tried to cover the bases on these "auto saves"

Deb and I are so looking forward to this release. This version of the game has so much more information and detail about Amerzone and your journey the original did not have. That demo was excellent. The demo is no longer avaialble but you can watch it here

5 minute auto saves is a very subjective topic.

It could mean either:

1. a save is made after 5 minutes of play time has elapsed no matter what has been accomplished,

or

2. A save is made after a specific checkpoint has been reached; a checkpoint that their tester who knew exactly what was needed to be done was able to reach in 5 minutes of play time, but could take a less seasoned player like me or you an hour or more to accomplish.

I fear that #2 is going to be what we get, and the frequency of auto saves will be much longer than 5 minutes for most of us. Those of us who are slow puzzle solvers will be most affected, but also those of us who like to take our time enjoying the scenery or soaking in the atmosphere will have to forgo this as we hurry to get to the next checkpoint so that we can quit.

I was excited about this release but not any more 🙄

The dreadful “Save” facility offered is an absolute No No 👎
