Good morning connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, Space Quest Fan, hagatha, Draclvr and all who follow. Hope you get a walk in later today Gerry. Wow Fogfighter, little to no wind raising electricity prices is awful! I miss the quiet snow falls and wintery white blankets of snow. C'est la vie... But do so enjoy WADDB, knäckebröd and bagels. Stay warm everyone and have a wonderful Thursday

Good Thursday morning! Still running cold, but not below freezing here. Tolerable for me, but miserable for hubby and his poor knees. That first knee replacement can't come soon enough in January.
Our German family went to the Canary Islands for 3 weeks, so they are escaping those high energy prices... while lounging on the beach!
Not much on the agenda today, but I have league bowling tonight.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Good morning everyone.
The party last night was a great success. There are a few new people in the neighbourhood, so lots of new friends. This street really is different; everyone knows everyone else. It a tiny one-block street right at the top end of a peninsula, with about 20 houses. It was a good pick for me.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning everyone.
We're in the throes of a nasty winter storm right now - wind and driving rain and gloom. It was going to be a Pilates morning but the landscaper is coming over to review the lawn maintenance plan for next year, which means a walkabout in the rain. Ugh.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Friday morning! I just barely made it before noon. Had to take hubby to the eye doctor this morning. He usually gets an eye injection, but his macular degeneration is doing so well with the treatments that he didn't have to get one. He was a happy camper! I was explaining to the grands that as awful as it sounds, in the days before cataract surgery and treatments for vision issues, people were just blind. Hard for them to fathom.
Just doing what little Christmas decorating I do here today. It's just us and hubby doesn't like Christmas, so I decorate for me!

LOL! Ah, Fogfighter... lutefisk. A traditional food when I was growing up - on my Norwegian side of the family - I hated it! The stuff smells so incredibly BAD! I didn't go to my Norwegian grandma's house at Christmas and smell the wonderful smells of Christmas - no, it was boiled whitefish which had been dried and preserved in lye! GAAA!!! They still have lutefisk festivals up where I'm from where a lot of Scandinavians settled. Entire counties smell like lutefisk!
The only Norwegian food I still love is lefse. I may have to make it this year.

I think I can live without the Lutefisk, having had it exactly once and nevermore! Same with pickled herring. I'm also off tuna at the moment, since I was served some that was not quite fresh a few years ago. I've not even been able to eat it as sushi.
My paternal grandmother was of German heritage. On Christmas Eve we would all gather around the baby grand and sing carols in German, or at least those of us who speak German did, which is not me. The tree was decorated with only candles -- a scary proposition, but they were snuffed as soon as the carols were over.
These days my Christmas is a roast chicken and two cats. Boring but easy.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Sunday morning! The WADDB is direly needed this morning. It's still cold, but at least it has stopped raining.
Fogfighter, my Norwegian grandma's lutefisk was similar to what you had. It was the long cooking that made her house smell so bad! It was always served with large amounts of melted butter. Horrid stuff! My dad always had to have pickled herring and oyster soup at Christmas too. Yuck! I think it's why I hate oysters and anything related to this day.
Soot, the lefse is made with potatoes, flour and lard! The best lefse makers could roll out their lefse to nearly transparent... my mom had a lefse griddle that was only allowed to be used for lefse. Most of the Scandanavian church ladies still get together and make huge quantities!
Poor hubby is down for the count. His knees are SO painful with this weather he can barely walk plus he woke up sick yesterday... chills, congestion, slight fever. He just feels awful. Roasted some beef soup bones in the oven yesterday and then simmered them for several hours to make beef broth for a vegetable beef barley soup for him.
Heading out to take care of his chickens...
EDIT: Great. I just did a COVID test for hubby and it was positive. I'm not surprised as he just kept feeling worse and worse.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, Draclvr, copper, soot, hagatha and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! Brought some Birthday Cupcakes to celebrate Ana's Birthday! Draclvr I hope hubby starts to feel better. Did he get the latest Covid shot? My sister is just getting over Covid too. It is snowing here right now but the temps are warming and everything under foot is icy...very dangerous to walk! I will stay put today as my driveway will be a sheet of ice. Hope you all enjoy your Monday! Gerry
