Here, you can learn more about the designers behind the game...
“We work well together as a team”
This remake of Amerzone – a faithful update that promises some new features – is in the hands of Microids Studio Paris. Formed in October 2021, the team has been built around former developers from the studio Koalabs, maker of Syberia 3 and Syberia: The World Before. Today, it includes more than 60 members, working at the headquarters of Microids in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. “Being on the same premises as our publisher is a plus point,” Antoine Babary, Audio Director, told us. “It helps us communicate more smoothly and make decisions faster.”
According to the team members, the human size of Microids Studio Paris creates a close and supportive environment. “When we have an idea to improve the game, we can talk about it and reach a decision pretty fast, without having to deal with layers of hierarchy,” Édouard Bourgeat, Principal Sound Designer, stated. “We work well together as a team; most of the members have already delivered at least one game together,” added Grégory Chicoine, Level Designer. “Delivery is a high-pressure stage in development, which proves the ability to work together.”
Experts in Sokal-esque adventure games
Through its work on the Syberia series over the years, Microids Studio Paris has developed expertise in the adventure game genre. “Working on Syberia allowed me to level up my skills, particularly with camera angles: what do we want to show, and how to show it?”, Grégory explained. “This experience with Syberia helped me a lot with Amerzone; we started out on a solid basis.”
The studio's background with Syberia means that it masters the world of Benoît Sokal better than anyone. “From the music to the visuals and the mechanics, there are many similarities between Syberia and Amerzone. By understanding one, we can enhance the other,” Antoine pointed out. “What’s more, our creative leads have a long history of collaboration with Benoît; they know his work inside out,” added Édouard. “This means we can produce a remake of Amerzone that’s as close as possible to what Benoît would have wanted.”
Furthermore, Microids Studio Paris has been honing its skills with its tool of choice, the Unity engine, achieving ever greater performance. “Syberia and Amerzone share a lot of technologies,” Grégory explained. “The foundations were already there, allowing us to focus on improvements and new features, like the point-of-view and sequence shots.”
Creating a remake that lives up to the cult game
Thanks to its expertise in adventure games, its solid development processes and its deep knowledge of Benoît Sokal’s work, the studio firmly believes that it can deliver the remake of Amerzone that players deserve. “With our background, we’re confident that we’re well positioned to meet the expectations,” stated Édouard. “The team has risen to all the challenges, and has strived to push the experience as far as possible,” added Antoine. “I really believe we can be proud of what we’ve accomplished,” Grégory concluded. Happy Gaming!

Can't wait! Q2 2025 it says. You need to give the updated demo a try oldbroad to see if there is anything to fear . Having played it twice before this update I really enjoyed it. Many had issues with the first demo crashing including myself delaying its release. I have started this demo with no issues so far. What a beautiful game this is Keyboard controls are simple: Escape - Pause Tab - your Journal Alt - Display Interactions V - Valenbois' travel journal Other interactions are done with the mouse, very simple There is a tutorial in the beginning helping you out. There are 2 difficulty choices you will choose from before the game starts, "Traveler" - easy and "Adventurer" - much harder. They both have a description what to expect. There is a hint system, Objective Reminder, Display Interactions and Notifications that can be turned on or off in the Options. You have very good control over the game Give the demo a try Oldbroad. It is a 4 GB download. Check the System Requirements Thank you Ana

Good morning and thanks for additional info on this game. BrownEyedTigre mentioned a new demo is available. Where can I find it? (Or have I missed it?) I have reached the age where I had to take a timeout to have a limb replaced, so I have been off this page for a while.

This is a very good demo Haze. Microids has extended this updated demo taking you further into the beginning of the game. There is a lot more detail and info about Amerzone in this remake. The graphics are fantastic, some of the best I have ever seen. I hope you enjoy it

Orion, you are absolutely correct. The demo is great fun and absolutely beautiful. (I still haven't found the the code to get the computer open but I will eventually.) The only problem is that the quality of the demo makes the wait for the game even more frustrating. That "Second quarter of 2025" is a bit vague. This redo of an old and favored Benoît Sokal game leads me to wonder if they have ever considered redoing his "Paradise" game. Aside from never figuring out why I would want to play as a panther for a bit, I enjoyed that game too. Anyway, thanks again for all the input.

As I remember it, there was a pretty definite connection between "Paradise" and "Amerzone." I still have my original boxed version of "Paradise," but I too have not attempted to play it on my Windows 10. Perhaps, if I grow too frustrated waiting for "Amerzone," I'll dig down in one of the boxes and find "Paradise," just to see if it will run.

I did not know of Paradise. I missed this one but there was a time I was off planet. I ran the trial through my wife's Big Fish account. No issues on a W11. It ran in a smaller window but was not of concern Microids has been informed by others that they too would like to see a remake not only of Paradise but Sinking Island as well. Who knows where that will lead Amerzone Discussions

Orion, I'd swear a conversation about Paradise happened not too long ago and you looked at it and remembered that you had played it in the past. Marian, the only discussion about it I see on GOG is that it ran to a certain point and then it became uncertain. I think I may try it when I finish Carol Reed. If it doesn't play on my Win 10, I can always replay it on my Win 7 where it is also still installed.

Marian, the only discussion about it I see on GOG is that it ran to a certain point and then it became uncertain. It is one of the comments that someone made under the community wish list, requesting that Paradise be added to the GOG catalogue. I haven't played Paradise but your comments about the game make me want to try it, ob. And, shockingly, I never got around to playing the original Amerzone.
