Good morning all! It looks quite beautiful outside right now but we are also expecting the high winds with storms coming during the night. I do hope that it doesn't get too bad (for anyone). I may try to make a grocery list today but I don't know if I really need anything just yet. I'd still like to take a look at the corned beefs (on the store site) and see if I think I want one. Nothing else on the agenda for the day except the usual lot of nothing. It wasn't too cloudy for the moon here but I did not go outside to try to see it. I could see it early this morning out my bedroom window but there wasn't any red showing at that time. I'm curious Gerry, do you take the same route every day when you walk or do you have different routes or just play it by ear? Enjoy the day! Here we go again with the internet - in and out all morning. I can only think it has to do with the high winds. Also, I'm sure I probably need a new router or whatever this inside box is called.

Stay safe Draclvr and Oldbroad. That storm sounds frightening and dangerous.
Nothing much happening here. I went out last night to look at the moon, but it was a bit cloudy, although calm and lovely. The evening chorus was sea lions, frogs, some kind of bird that peeps after dark, and a a dog or two barking at the sea lions.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew awaits. I hope the storms are not as bad as predicted Draclvr and oldbroad. Stay safe! Oldbroad I live in the country surrounded by state forest and the road I walk on is a quiet country road that I usually do every day...4+ miles. I can also walk my neighborhood...it is not a thru street so no traffic. The neighborhood and country road have some steep hills so it is a good work out. I can also walk to another neighborhood and enjoy a different route. Hope you all have a nice day! Gerry

Good morning everyone the sun is shining and the temperature is climbing which is setting the stage for bad weather. The bad weather that rolled through Draclvr's area will pass us. Thunderstorms, risk of tornadoes, very large hail and damaging winds will occur this afternoon into the overnight. So, I'll batten down the hatches after lunch. I've been enjoying WADDB, knäckebröd and bagels this morning. Take care everyone and stay safe

Good Saturday morning! Unfortunately, the storms were really bad last night. A tornado was on the ground less than a mile from us. It was very near my stepdaughter and she sent me a video of the destruction this morning as they drove along the road they live on. It was so close that at one point their front doors exploded open with all the wind and hail howling outside. There was a huge tornado on the ground in a rural community about 15 miles from here which also caused huge amounts of damage. I haven't heard of any deaths so far. We escaped with tons of branches and tree limbs all over. The wind was just unbelievable - gusting to 70 mph and it hailed for at least 20 minutes.
Haven't heard of any damage down at the horse rescue. The guy who lives down there with his family took them all to the storm shelter on the property. It's concrete and built into the side of a hill with a hatch on top to climb down. His wife sent me a picture of them down there in the dark with a battery powered lantern. They had a dog, two cats in crates and two daughters with them! I pick up little RayLynn from the bus often when her mom can't because it's a mile and a half through the woods to get down to the Ranch. She was sitting in a corner trying to play a game on her phone... all snug as could be down there while the wind howled above! The home the Humane Society provides for them is basically a double wide manufactured home and NOT something you wanted to be in last night.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Draclvr, That's awful. We don't get tornados here but some of our winter storms this year had severe winds and there was a lot of damage, trees and branches down, cars damaged, sheds collapsed and power outages everywhere. It's scary enough without the threat of a tornado. I'm happy to hear that the horses are okay, too.
EDIT: I just read an article in the news that the tornados are to continue through the afternoon and evening today and that there have been fatalities. Stay safe!

Good Morning everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. I hope you all are safe and any damage from the stormy weather wasn't to severe where you live. Thinking of you all and keeping you in my prayers. We are expecting the storms to arrive here tonight thru Monday all day. High winds and torrential rain expected. I already have lots of fallen tree limbs to clean up...hopefully no trees will get uprooted with the saturated ground. Hope it can be a peaceful Sunday for everyone! Gerry

Good morning everyone. Lost power last night 8pm and hope it comes back on sooner than later. I'll break out the camping stove this morning for meals. No damage...lots of limbs. Thank goodness for your WADDB Gerry. Hope this weather doesn't cause too much damage as it keeps moving. Take care everyone

Good Sunday morning! It's back to being cold again, so the WADDB really hits the spot. Fine with me - no more of those horrid storms.
Hubby drove around yesterday to see the damage from the tornado that touched down near us. He said it missed my step-daughter by less than a quarter of a mile. It touched down another place about a mile from us down by the river. An elderly lady lives in a small house down there and it lifted her roof right off while she was there. Lots of cleanup going on.
Twelve confirmed deaths in Missouri.
Sure hope your power is back on by now, soot! Batten down the hatches, Gerry!

Good morning everyone,
It's a beautiful morning here. I'll probably go for a walk later on.
I'm glad you're okay, Draclvr. I've never been anywhere near a tornado. It must be terrifying.
Gerry and Connie and everyone else affected by the storm, stay safe.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning everyone! Emergency kits with brown sugar, whipped cream and Irish whiskey are available in the break room. I'm sure you know what to do. Over here sunny and chilly. Just above freezing point. Happy Saint Patrick's day. To those who celebrate.

Good Monday morning and Happy St. Patrick's Day! I see Ana has made sure the rainbow and pot of gold are here!
A quick trip in town to the grocery store, but that's it for me today. So many people are still trying to pick up the pieces after the tornados Friday night.
One of the places hit hard was the Purina Farms research facility about 15 miles from here. The big horse barn was nearly destroyed, but all the horses survived. They brought all of them out here to the horse rescue while they rebuild. I watched trailer after trailer go by Saturday. Some dogs were trapped in the visitor's center, but all survived. In a nearby subdivision, several rescue groups were out setting traps for cats and dogs that are missing after so many homes were destroyed there. They have already found several cats that were trapped in the homes.
