New Age Brings Additional Intrigue To 2020 Myst RemakeCheck out the game Here.Spokane, United States – March 18, 2025 – Cyan Worlds, the visionary video game developer behind the iconic classics Myst and its beloved sequel Riven, announces the addition of a new Age to their acclaimed 2020 remake of Myst. Fans can look forward to exploring Rime when the new Age becomes available for the Meta Quest platform as well as Windows and Mac systems this Thursday, March 20th at 10am Pacific, with an update for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game to follow.
This major update containing the addition of Rime is free for existing owners of Cyan’s 2020 from-the-ground-up remake of Myst for Quest, and the 2021 Windows, Mac, and Xbox versions.
The Age of Rime introduces players to the snowy, mountainous seascape that Atrus and his family would visit in years past, before the events of Myst and Riven upended their lives. Sweeping vistas, beautiful ice structures, and fantastical natural phenomena await new visitors. This breathtaking new Age also houses a detailed laboratory space where bold experiments were made, delving into the mysterious nature of Linking Books themselves. This new version of Rime includes all-new narrative beats, new lore, and new sights to behold.
Details of This Release
Added Rime, with all-new narrative beats, lore and visuals. Added the ability to zoom in on things. Added support for Intel XeSS and TSR (Windows only) supersampling. An option for Color Context Subtitles has been added to the Interface settings menu. This will show text next to puzzles that require seeing particular colors to figure out a solution. Major graphical improvements made to Quest on Myst Island and other areas of the game. ASW has been enabled to accommodate this. Happy Gaming!

Yes...thats the one, thanks Uncle Reg So now do I assume that this DLC for the 2020 release Myst of the Rime age is just an edition that also adds the age in VR mode as well as a new PC mode with better graphics?

I know this has been dealt with, but I can't seem to remember the details. Since I have copies of MYST, Real MYST, and MYST Masterpiece Edition, as well as soundtracks of all the MYST games and all The MYST games (And the books and the comics etc.) is there something new in the 2020 release that I don't now have? (I seem to remember that that version was supposed to have an actual "Book", but it didn't pan out.) At any rate rate, the game is inexpensive. but does it have anything new?

Maybe this will help with questions: Cyan Worlds is enhancing the 2020 Myst remake with a free "Age of Rime" update, scheduled for release on March 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET. This update introduces Rime, a new icy Age inspired by its depiction in realMyst, offering players a snowy, mountainous seascape filled with sweeping vistas, intricate ice structures, and unique natural phenomena. Additionally, Rime features a detailed laboratory where Atrus conducted experiments on Linking Books. Beyond the new Age, the update includes several enhancements: * Zoom Functionality: Allows players to focus on intricate details within the environment. * Graphical Improvements: Enhances visuals, particularly on the Quest platform, with adjustments like ASW (Asynchronous Spacewarp) enabled. * Color Context Subtitles: Introduces an option to display text next to puzzles that require color recognition for solutions. The "Age of Rime" update will be available for PC, Mac, and Quest platforms on March 20, with releases for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One to follow at a later date. Rime was first introduced in realMyst as an additional Age, providing players with a unique environment to explore. In the original Myst storyline, Rime is depicted as an icy island located above the Arctic Circle, created by Atrus during his time on Myst Island. It served as a location for his experiments with Linking Books and was a place of personal significance to him and his family It appears that this update does support VR mode GreyFuss. Just to make sure I have asked - Discussions.Press ReleaserealMyst: Masterpiece Edition - Rime AgeThis update drops at the same time Steam Winter Sale ends. This sale is offering 40% off. If at all interested in experiencing this snowy "Age of Rime" in this Myst remake best get it before 3/20 - 1pm EST. If already owned the update is FREE and will update your copy

Yes GOG will get the update Uncle Reg, should already be done. This "Age of Rime" update was to release 3/20 - 1pm EST. I know it has released on Steam. If you have this Myst remake in your GOG library click on it and check "Extras" at the top. That is where I find "patches" ready for install.

FYI: the update is wonderful. RIme looks fantastic. It's basically this: you've completed the regular game first. Now you can solve a few things to get TO RIme (it is very much different than "getting to" RIme in the original game....you'll see what I mean if you remember the Myst Masterpiece version). Once in Rhyme, you'll have other puzzles to solve, and you can explore the age a bit, too. This isn't a "new ending' to the Myst 2020 game, just another age to visit (and you can eventually make your way back to Myst Island from Rime, as well. Eventually :-) A HUGE plus, aside from the much-welcome RIme age? They added more save slots and updated some grfx from the 2020 Myst re-make(really 2021, bec it came out on Steam mid-year 2021). Ten save slots now rather than the original 4(I think?). So you can travel if you want to all the ages and save once you get there, including of course Rime. Now you can have instant transport to all the areas in Myst (couldn't do that with the 3 or 4 original save slots in Myst 2020/2021). Awesome sauce! Another note: the Rime age (and some grfx updates that came with this patch), if one doesn't have a NASA computer, will tax your system heavily w/ high-end grfx settings as it did mine. You can of course choose to LOWER your grfx settings but frankly the differences (I checked it out) are quite notable. ENjoy!

Thanks for the info on this updated Myst robedits. I played the Rime Age once through and will do it again this time in VR. I wish they would have had an option to go straight to Rime starting on Myst island like it does instead of having to play Myst through again. Oh well what's one more time. I do have a "NASA computer" and will get around to it hopefully in a few days
