I have Asylum installed to my Win10 machine and have peeked at it and also tested to see if it saves OK. But not played any further than that.

And I didn't install it via Galaxy. Just downloaded the game files.

However, when I switched on my machine just now, a message appeared to say "Asylum Updated" think

Does that mean there is an update available ?? And if so, where would I find it ??

[I went to GOG but didn't see anything. Although, having said that, I could fall over a bus before I actually saw it !! duh]

Thanks.

Mad smile

Yes, there has been an update. But I always use the Galaxy installer, so it updates automatically. Can you go to your GOG account and see if there is anything there?

Thanks, Draclvr ....

Yes. That's where I went. But I couldn't see any mention of an update for anything.

Do you know of an area where I should find mention of one ??

As far as I know, if you click on the game, it should tell you if there is an update. You might try clicking on the Support tab at the top and then selecting your game and see if there is anything there. You could always start a support ticket, but you know how long that can take!

Here is what I found online:

Quote
To update GOG games installed using offline installers (without GOG Galaxy), you'll need to download the latest offline installers from your GOG account and run them, overwriting the previous installation

I don't have any personal experience here because I use GOG Galaxy for downloading their games - and the ease of updates is one of the main reasons I do, because I am certainly not a fan of clients. And once the game is installed through Galaxy, you don't have to use Galaxy after that in order to run the game.

That's the same way I do it too, Marian. This is what I understood too - any updates would be in the latest offline installers in Mad's account. It would seem odd they would not be identified as a new update though.

I agree - you would think that it would be clearly identified as a new patch/update.

Well, I don't know WHAT to think now !!

I didn't use Galaxy to download/install Asylum specifically because a couple of weeks ago I got a message from GOG telling me that my Galaxy was out of date.
But it seemed such a rigmarole at the time to update it that I just left it for then.
So when I eventually downloaded/installed Asylum, I just used the game files (as I have said) which is what I tend to do most of the time anyway.

However .... I looked at Galaxy today and Asylum was showing as "installed" .... and the "Play" button was operative.
So I clicked on it - and the game launched !!!!

How is that possible ??

And it opened at that same spot I had exited from my in initial "look-see" after checking if making a save worked.

AND I could carry on playing crazy

Any ideas ????

You've got me, Mad! That's a question for the GOG folks unless someone here can answer it!

I don't think I can be bothered, Draclvr lol

So unless anyone here at Gameboomers can explain, I'll just leave things as they are and hope the game continues to work, when I properly get to it !!

But thanks for reading my thread 👍
