I wrote this down, if it helps any.
Go to the guard at the gate and click on him.
The pole light at the bridge appears at the bottom of the screen.
Click on the pole light and go into a conversation about it.
Cabin appears at the bottom of the screen.
Click on the cabin to get another conversation.
Go to the locked cabin; go to the front cabin; return to the gate guard.
Now he tells you he is hungry.
On the way back to the cabin pick up the mushrooms.
At the cabin click the can opener on a can of beans; then click the mushrooms on the open can of beans.
Click the matches on the stove to light it; click the open can of beans on the stove and wait while the little clock in the top left corner of the screen indicates the passage of time.
Go back and give the gate guard the beans.
Kill some time by going to the cabin and the back cabin.
Return to the gate guard.
He tells you, basically, he has to go because something was wrong with those beans and he leaves.
Go into the tent and pick up the radio on the table to the right (of the screen).
Go to the coat on the left and get the keys from the pocket (right click to get them).
Go to the back cabin and use the keys from the Major’s coat to get in.
