“Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon”, the first of 4 launches scheduled for back half of 2008.

Quote:
Encore, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Navarre Corporation, and Microïds, a leading adventure games producer and publisher, announced today their partnership to publish the whole Microïds games catalogue in North America.

The agreement covers all-new versions of the adventure game line up and secures rights to Microïds extensive back catalog which includes international successes “Still Life”, “Syberia”, “Amerzone” and “Dracula”.

To find out more about the Microïds catalog of games, click here.

Quote:
“Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon”, the sequel to the original
Dracula series initiated and produced by Microïds (Dracula Resurrection and Dracula 2 The Last Sanctuary), will be the first title to ship under the new agreement.

Follow up launches include “Sinking Island”, directed by Benoit
Sokal, the author of the critically acclaimed Syberia franchise,
“Still Life 2”, the much awaited new episode in the Still Life
series, and “Nostradamus”.

“We are thrilled to partner with a leader in PC publishing,” said
Roch Roustan, Managing Director of Microïds. “Encore’s proven track record with entertainment franchises made our decision easy. Given the star power of these franchises, the richness of the storylines and the high production value of the games, I look forward to sharing these new titles with the adventure gaming community."

Thanks for the wonderful news Becky! I guess this might explain why these games that so many of us have been wondering about (When? Where?) weren't available in North America, but were seemingly everywhere else. Hope we'll be seeing them by Q3 on DVD! Talk about pent up demand!

This IS very good news.

Just FYI, looks like jewel case versions of Syberia, Still Life and Dracula will be available in early May at a $9.95 list. No sign of Syberia II though yet. frown

Hi Dave. wave It's good to see you!

That's great news about the jewel case versions. Which Dracula game will be available in May in a jewel case version?

I believe it will be Resurrection, but not 100% sure until I receive it. At least so far, it's simply called Dracula. Which should lead to some confusion. smile

This is great news! Thanks. I'm looking forward to buy Still Life and Syberia. The $9.99 version is great.

I do hope these games are Vista compatible.

Question:
I can only play third person view games. First person makes me sick. For Syberia, will it be similar to Keepsake's style of third person view? I don't think I can deal with that version of third person view.

Hi mission -- was there something different about Keepsake's third person view? I don't remember the camera tracking Lydia or moving -- but since I don't feel nauseated I might not have noticed.

Yes, Becky. There was something different about Keepsake's third person view.

In a standard third person view game like Nibiru, the background image does not move, you will see the person move. The person can move from point A to B within the location (background) and the background image is static.

In the case of Keepsake, both the person and background image will move. If you move the person from point A to B as in the Nibiru case, you will see the person move and at some point the background image will change to reflect the move. This change can be 360 degrees - sometimes you get bird eye's view of the person.

Keepsake's version of third person view is definitely different from the rest.

I don't remember how much movement there was in the background as Kate moved in Syberia, but it's been years since I played it. Perhaps someone who's played it more recently can comment?

There's very little camera movement in Syberia that I can recall. Kate moves from one side of the screen to the other, and only then does the angle switch. There's no tracking. Not at all disorienting.

Rushes, Would you say Syberia is similar to Keepsake? I get disoriented with Keepsake and I had a very hard time moving around - getting to the basement etc. If they designed it the way Nibiru does, I would not stop playing after the first puzzle.
