LEGACY INTERACTIVE¹S THE LOST CASES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY GAME NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD Puzzle Adventure/Hidden Object Casual Game Includes 16 Original Cases to Solve LOS ANGELES May 7, 2008 ³Come, Watson, come! The game is afoot.² Legacy Interactive today announces the release of The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes, a whodunit casual computer game of theft, espionage and murder in which the player must tap their own powers of observation to solve puzzles and identify the culprits. The game is now available for download at The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes is the first computer game officially licensed by the Conan Doyle Estate. It features familiar personalities including Sherlock Holmes, Watson, Mycroft, Inspector Lestrade and more than 100 historical characters that will launch players into the world of the eccentric and famous detective. For each of the 16 individual cases, an overall storyline is revealed and a list of potential suspects is whittled down until the perpetrator is ultimately exposed. In each case, set in Victorian London, players encounter the following puzzles: a hidden object puzzle, Sudoku, find the difference puzzle, and a picture memory game. There are also additional puzzles and mini-games such as anagrams, cryptograms and jigsaw memory games, which are available at various levels. Legacy has gone to great lengths to insure that the puzzles and mini-games are relevant to the period and storyline of the game as the player journeys from locales such as the British Museum, Big Ben, Kew Gardens, the Royal Theater and others in search of clues that are then evaluated back at 221b Baker Street. Game Features * Play as part of the venerable team of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. * There are 16 different mystery cases for players to solve. * Over 100 visual puzzles and mini-games tailored to the subject and period of the game reveal a cohesive storyline as you play. * A wide variety of mind-bending puzzles including hidden object, find the difference, picture Sudoku and picture memory games. * Realistic and relevant clues for each case. * Gamers can easily begin their adventure where they just left off; there is no disruption in game play. * Players can explore 40 historically accurate locations around Victorian London. * Officially licensed by the Conan Doyle Estate. Lei, I tested it also and heard that many of the changes were done. That's great. I will wait till BF gets it to check out the final version but I am sure it's great since I enjoyed it before. Ana

Downloaded the demo and play the first two cases easily, maybe 10 to 12 minutes each, played the 3rd case until the end of finding the clues, where you need to pick out the differences in a gun, but the game won't do anything. You click on the difference and nothing happens. You use a hint and it picks out a difference but when you click on the difference the game just doesn't do anything, so that's it. As the final piece to find, you can't go any farther.
I like the game, but I think it's will be a short game unless the cases get harder and more involved. If the game had let me I probably could have finished 5 or 6 cases in the 1 hour demo.
Some of the things are very hard to find in the hidden object and find the difference modes, and things are small, but you do have lots of time for each case. You can add hints by finding Sherlock's pipe, but once you run out of hints, I don't think you get any more unless you find the pipes in each scene.
Unless, that was as far as I could go, because it does say upgrade to receive the 16 cases etc. etc.
So, not really sure what happened, whether it's a glitch or that is as far as one can go.

The demo is about 136 MB- fairy large. I was able to do most of the top files in the hour demo and think it is a short game.

b42241, they are not demos that you download, it is a full game that expires in a limited time frame. Ana

Does anyone know if this game is Vista compatible? I want to pre-order the boxed game but All I see is that it's windows but doesn't state which OS.

Yes, I am. So I came on to say as much. I didn't like the very large magnifying glass on each and every screen and that has now been made optional! I'm back to getting the CD version when it is released! Thanks Ana Linda

Hi I've never played a "casual" game before but I couldn't resist buying the download for this Sherlock one However, I've got 3 questions .... A) I've solved the first two crimes within the time limits allowed but what will happen if I fail to solve one of the cases (still to come) in time ?? Is it normal, in these type of games, to be given the chance to do it again ?? B) I contacted "Legacy" to ask whether I'm allowed to copy the game to a disk so I can play it again in the future and they said I had to contact the "author of the software". But I don't think I've seen an "author" mentioned. [Or is there a blatantly obvious name I am missing ?? ] C) Whether or not I'm allowed to make a copy, am I allowed to keep this game installed and play it as many times as I might wish - seeing as I have paid for it ?? [There seem to be different rules for different downloads.] Hope some of you experienced "casual gamers" out there can offer advice ********************** EDIT : I just read the rules for this board and wonder now if I am asking questions I shouldn't be asking ?? ********************** Cheers. Mad

Mad, you didn't ask a wrong question here. Casual games have unlock keys etc. that do not transfer to a backup disk. You would need to see what Legacy's rules are regarding how many downloads you get. I only use BigFish because of their policys on redownloading and other issues. I do not see mention on Legacy support regarding their policy on that. You can contact them through the link I provided though. If you like the Sherlock Games and puzzles you may really like This One. Try the free download, it's fun (except for the timer ! Ana

Hi BrownEyedTigre Thanks for your response Yes. I might go for that "free" one also [ ] but at the moment I am stuck on my "bought" one - The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes I am enjoying the game very much and have made it to the fourth puzzle - but on this fourth one I can't find a vital item which is supposedly on the very first screen I've had two goes already with no success so I hope it's not "three strikes and you are out !! Help from anyone playing who has got past this part would be much appreciated Cheers. Mad

There is one folded on the table next to the perfume and phonograph. There is one on the floor in Foyer? nextv to table, kind of below the bust. I have the third but I don't know where I got it from. You then need to form a puzzle with them. Ana
