I got the download from Frogwares, unzipped it and I now have a folder 001 containing a file 001.rar

I'v obviously missed something because there's no option in the game to turn off the timer.

Wondering if I uninstall the game and then install it again, I'll get the patched version from BF ... getting fed up with this so think I'll go and play The Lost Cases

menahune, did you read MaG's instructions?

Opened the ......\Sherlock Holmes - The Mystery of the Persian Carpet folder.

Played the game.

There are now 2 possible ways for you to go through:
1. If you select New Game - you automatically get a choice of timed or untimed when you click New GAme.
2. If you open an old game.
- See the Main Menu.
- You will see OPTIONS. Select Options on the right side.
- Then Select Play untimed. Accept or Back.
- Then back on the Main Menu, select Resume.
- Select a place to go to in the map and you will see that the timer is set at 00:00.
- Play a bit and then exit as usual.

I got the patch from them but have no idea how to install it. There are so many downloads on that page, I don't know what to d/l in order to get the timer stopped. I have the game installed, but haven't started to play it yet.

Tammy, did you see the instructions in Ana's post above?

The first thing you have to do is unzip the file. Do you have a program that does that? If not, you need to download one. I think I have winrar.

I don't have winzip, but I thought there was something that came with Windows XP. I don't usually have trouble unzipping stuff, but this one has me stumped.

When you got your email from Wael, there was a link in that to download a program to unzip it.

Yes, there were several programs in that link. I just don't know which one to download.

Tammy,

Try this as a trial period and you can use it. I did it this way. Click - here

OK - I checked the link from frogwares. Use the top one: 7-Zip 4.57 2007-12-0632 and .exe 7Bit. That works. luck

Richard - Check your e-mail for the info.

The two files you sent me MaG are the same files I have in the folder 000. I have another folder with the files you sent me 001 can't get it to work. I guess I can use the timer.

I used WinRar to unzip (it's free for 40 days) worked great with Vista. It changes all downloaded unzipped files automatically.
I just moved the unzipped file into my Sherlock program files.
Thanks a bunch MaG and Frogwares for arranging this. bravo

Richard and Upsy,

After you unzipped the folder - open it. Use the 001 folder that is inside that unzipped one. That inside 001 is the one you place inside the Persian Carpet folder. Play-load then.

Hi all, I started playing this game a few days ago and got so frustrated with the timer, I stopped playing and started looking for a forum with some hints. So here I am. smile I am stuck on the level where you have to beat the computer making boxes. frown

I e-mailed Frogwares also this am an have been waiting for the patch also. I'll start playing again when I can eliminate the timer! Hope I get it soon.

Great forum BTY.

no, I hadn't read McG instructions ... I'd read and followed the instructions from Frogwares

so then I read and followed McG's instructions ... what a mass of confusion here ... I had 001 folders inside and outside and all over the place

just kept moving these around until I got the .pak files where I thought they should be ... eureka! it works now in untimed version

thanks to all ... I'm now struggling with the threads in the sewing box ... it's amazing and my hat is off to any who solved this level (and indeed the entire game) in timed mode
