I have a question for the VV3 Officianado's.
I have a diamond in my fire pit and it's too hot for anyone to touch it. It has rained a couple of time and I thought that would cool it down but it hasn't. I've tried getting the bucket off the lift, doesn't work. I've tried kids, master scientists, master doctors, master builders, master parents and the leader but none of them will pick it up.
I'm worried that if I don't start a fire they will start to get sick or something.
I also have a wee tidbit. If you want women to have kids but don't want to wait while they go indoors just drop the guy on top of the girl (heehee) and keep them kissing till your tribe number goes up. Then just pick up the girl and drop her and Voila, she has a baby in her arms. No need to wait forever while they go indoors.

Hi Jldcat, Here's what you need to do to get the diamond. Once your fire goes out completely you will see a huge diamond in the ashes. The diamond will be too hot to pick up. You will need the help of your villagers to put the fire out.
Send some villagers to the waterfalls that are on the left side of the scene and they will automatically pick up some water and throw it on the diamond.
You will have to keep dragging your villagers over to the water several times until the key is cool enough to pick up. I sort of lost count as to how many villagers I had to send to the waterfall but I think it was at least 12 times.
You will know that the diamond is ready to be picked up once you drop a villager over to the waterfall and they drink out of it instead of carrying water back to the pit.
Once that happens drop any villager on the pit and they will take the diamond to the door. If this is the last key that you needed for the door, like it was for me, then the door will open at this point. Once the door is open you will be taken to the Sun Dial Room.
If it's not the last key for you then the door will open once you've placed the third and last key in the door.
Here's the link for the VV3 Walkthrough if you need it. Good Luck, Margie b

Thank you so much. I've tried to check the walkthrough out but for some reason going to it freezes up my laptop. I even saved it to my desktop but it still freezes when I go to it.
Ana, sorry about the way I wrote that, I guess I didn't get the gist at how bad it really was till I re-read it after your post. LOL It was true though.

Hey jldcat, That was pretty funny...it sounds like the kind of romance all women are looking for. I wish I knew why your computer freezes up while looking at the walkthrough, that's odd. Do you have Internet Explorer or Firefox? Sometimes the site works best with Firefox for some reason. Let me know if you need any more help.Good Luck! Hey Ana and L4L A big wave hello all the way from Maryland going your way Margie

I'm running Internet Explorer Margie. I think it has something to do with something running in the background, laptop seems really slow even after running all the cleaners. I just can't find what's running.....

There's always the LDW (the developer) website. It's hard to get to the guides though. ldwforums.com > forum list > The Guides (at the bottom of the page) There's a PDF you can print out under the heading "Virtual Villagers 3 Tips, Tricks, Hints, Spoilers"

Thanks Margie for the .pdf link, it worked perfectly.
Now I'm having a problem getting my wee people to work on the statue.
I have level 2 leadership and level 3 restoration but nothing happens when I drop my leader on the statue. It just says that she sees the statue and then goes on to do something else. I have the plans drawn up also.

Hi Connie, I was doing just that before I came back to check here. I've dropped her at the head, at the feet, everywhere along the side that you can see, on the trail and at the top of the hill in a few different places. I've also dropped her all over the top of the fallen part and she just slides off to the back. I must be missing something. My villagers are starting to get older and the youngest ones don't have any building experience as I stupidly built everything up at the beginning of the game. The only thing that needs building is the statue.

I do have the 1.004 version. I think it's the fact that I need Level 3 Leadership that is messing me up. I didn't notice that when I was reading the walkthrough. Thanks for the help!!!

Place one of the villagers on the torches next to the hive.

OK I have to admit it, after reading the comments here, I downloaded and played the demo of VV2 lost children, and I got so addicted to it I bought it. Than immediatly afterwards did the same for VV3 and play both of them at the same time. LOL now that is called addicted. For 2 days solid I have played these games every waking moment that I am not busy with work. Never would I think that I would be interested in a game like this.
My husband felt bad because I named the tribe after him, and picked out a character that looked like him and one that looked like me. Well to make a long story short, his character never became a elder thereby getting his recognition of a totem pole. His Character died at the age of 65 got grey hair and he claims I worked him to death. LOL My character lived longer and got her totem pole because she mastered in 3 skills becoming a elder. I soothed his feelings though because I died also telling him I grieved myself to death because I missed him. We are buried side by side now.
Warning if you start these games it truly is an addiction. The children are my favorite part of the game, each looks so different and VV3 they are even more adorable yelling weee as you lift them up in the air. In VV3 the magical robe that turns whoever it fits into a chief ruler over the people, turned out to be a 5 year old girl. She is so adorable. Here is a hint I haven't seen written about I found accidently. Take your chief and to keep your people working touch one of your people with the chief and put him or her in front of the people. My chief in VV3 stares at them and notice comes up and says the chief is directing their work. They usually obey and do what is told for them to do and keep working. I use the chief to keep the people in line. Now she has turned 10 years old and is even more adorable. I hope others will try out the demo and see if you like the game also.
