I think Jonathan made a deliberate design decision to make this game stand out, by having an unusual look (black and white except for certain items, in the style of the movie, "Pleasantville"), and by having every single character you meet talk like a psychotic. So the quirky moonwalking bit could be a convenient decision not to improve the animation. Incidentally the game reminded me of Dark Seed I and II in which the scenes and the characters were weird and the graphics had a weird look. By having a abrupt ending could mean he is creating a link to the sequel. So far all his games are linked in some way. By having himself do the voice over I think he is adding some identity to his games.
With all those weird design decisions I think Jonathan wanted this game to have an overall "Indie" (Independent Developer) touch. Or was it because of a budget problem? But I really hope he could put in more budget and make the next game grander.
