List that little known game you sort of stumbled upon and turned out to be great.2 Rules: 1).Should be somewhat obscure and not usually discussed here. 2).Should play on modern computers without too much fuss. My contribution would be "Black Buccaneer" available in the Viva Adventure Anthology Package. Its more fun than a human should be allowed to have.

Darleen Sure glad to hear that Sanitarium played on a newer computer. Been thinking of getting it. Now I will for sure (will be part of my next order from Dave).

Hard to not break one of those rules, since either the games are hard to find or they're discussed here. The only one I can think of that might fit is Nightlong: Union City Conspiracy.

Don't know if they are obscure enough, but I haven't seen many comments on: Byzantine Deathgate Timelapse Titanic: adventure out of time Great games that deserve more attention

I really enjoyed The Arrangement, an independent game released a few years ago. A man's wife goes missing, the story follows his search for her. Some good puzzling.

Deathgate is a first person fantasy game, based on the books by Weiss and Hickman. I don't know the books, and I'm not a fantasy fan, but this game drew me in quickly. The story is epic -I won't try summarizing it- but you have to go out through the deathgate into the realms of fire, water etc to find the pieces of a broken seal. Every realm is almost an adventuregame in itself. There's actually a review here, so maybe I broke the first rule It played flawless in dosbox. Titanic: adventure out of time is about the oceanliner (the spaceship was 'Starship Titanic'). 4 different suspenseful storylines, each connecting to a historic event, are cleverly combined. When the credits roll, you will know your way around the Titanic blindfolded. This game does something that is supposed to be awful: after the ship hits the iceberg, you have to wrap up all the stories before it sinks. That means a 55 minute timed sequence! I hate that. Normally. But here it works extremely well. I played this years ago and hardly remember any specifics, but the sense of anxiety in that last hour, trying to tie up all loose ends while there's panic all around, is something I never experienced since in a game. Don't skip this one because of that timed bit! I played it on win98, so I'm not sure about the second rule.

I was pleasantly surprised by Largo Winch- even though there is some fighting scenes and I loathe fighting- it was not that much and very easy to get through. The rest of the game was a great story, dialogue, point and click scenes and characters.

I will have to go with The Dark Eye. I played it on XP and still have it installed ready to play again.

I loved the "Journeyman Project" series, two or three of them I believe. They played on Win 3.1 so should play on DOS box if you know how to tweak them.

kazzmo, I'm so glad to hear The Dark Eye played on XP. I second your recommendation of this game--especially on Halloween. Loved that strange, interesting game.
The answer is....chocolate! Who cares what the question is.....

My daughter got out The Last Express and loaded it up on her Vista laptop and it worked!
I recommend Jazz and Faust and Torin's Passage, both of which I played on XP I believe.

I have to go with Drascula a real fun spoof of all vampire games.
I've seen God, and his name is iPad. Let us pray yes, I do use my Hairbrush as a Microphone and Dance around in my Underwear. Thank you very much.
