Hi EDI, good to see you! I have dial-up, so it makes downloading a game pretty well impossible. There's lot of adventure folks in the same situation, or who just don't choose to download.
Ahh. that explains it.
I thought Morning's Wrath started out at $39.95. No?
It's possible that the Hardcopy version was that much intially, I remember early on we lowered prices.
[begin games industry business stuff]
The hard copy was always 10 dollars more than the digital. This was necessary to cover the costs for allowing hard copy (material cost, printing the dvd wrap, replicating cd, printing the cd, printing the booklet, shrink wrap, order processing, and then the cut of the people doing all this work), the only way for us to do this is in a fairly on-demand manner, since we cant afford to get 1,000 copies printed up on projected faith of sales (yet at least :D) which means it's very expensive per copy, so in short, the numbers just didn't work for us, we'd rather spend the time and money making more games. (for a bit of perspective, Morning's Wrath only made EDIGames about $10,000.00 gross)
There IS apparently an option for CD on demand with our processor plimus, however I imagine that the quality would be less than the best, and it probably wouldn't be styled in a manner that we'd like. I will look more into it though, if I feel they can provide us with a good product for our customers and we'll probably do it.
If you lowered your price, isn't it possible that you would get more sales, so ultimately make more money? No matter, I wish you much luck and can't wait to hear how others enjoy the game!
Price and volume are always tricky things. For us to lower the price now would give the impression of it heading for the bargain bin, so we don't want to do that. Plus lower prices, in the 9 to 5 dollar range give a severe lack of prestige, which we don't want

So the short answer is 'maybe' but if some people see a lower price it may deter them from purchasing it in the first place (if somthing seems too good to be true, it probably is?).
[end business crud]

P.S. if we do end up putting out a hardcopy I will make sure people who've previously purchased the game get a coupon (via provided email) for a much reduced price should they want the hard copy too.
