Hi - I know this is an old game but I'm hoping someone has a saved game they can let me have. I've played up to what is classed as chapter 8 in the walkthrough but my cursor has frozen. I'm in a dark cell and need to find a light but my cursor won't move . If I right click to bring up the electronic diary and select an item I can move it around the screen but if I click to get rid of the diary the item vanishes and the cursor freezes again. I've tried moving a selected item around the page with the diary on screen but the light source doesn't appear and I can't cover the area of the screen where the diary is - I'm assuming there must, unfortunately, be something in the area behind where the diary is on screen. I've searched for a patch but without success so my only hope I that someone has a saved game starting at this point in the game so I can continue. Hope you can help. Thanks. Geezy

Hi geezy,

I remember this section of the game, and I also thought that I had a glitch while stuck in the dark room, because it does seem as though the cursor isn't moving - but it is, it's just impossible to tell because you're in pitch black. Slowly turn and move around the room, keep searching for a hand cursor to appear, and then click on it. It might take a while to find it. Check your inventory and you'll see that a match and box of matches have been added.

I don't have any saves for this game, unfortunately. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

geezy,

It's been a long while since I played this game but, if I'm remembering correctly, your cursor isn't frozen - you just can't see it because it's so dark.

In a bedroom did you pick up matches? Check your inventory. If not, then move your mouse slowly around the cell until you get a hand cursor. There may be an area that's not quite so black - move your mouse around that area. Click the hand cursor and then check your inventory. You should see a single match and a box of matches.

After that, follow the walkthrough.

Good luck.

Hi - thanks for the advice but I really think I am stuck. You see if I click on say the screwdriver in inventory and leave the elec diary on screen I can move the screwdriver round the screen but if I right click to close the diary the screwdriver just sticks in the centre and doesn't move around like it does when the diary is open. I've found a hand area using the screwdriver but it just says it's a bottle. I don't think I'm moving round the room cos the bottle/hand appear in the same spot all the time. Hope you can understand all that. Any ideas. Sorry if it's just me being thick. Geezy.

Can you e-mail me your last saved game, geezy? I'll reinstall my game and see if I can work out what the problem might be.

The room is actually only a small cupboard, so you won't be able to move anywhere as such, just to spin around on one spot.

Thank you re sending you a saved game but, would you believe it, I can't find any. I have a saves folder in the Microids folder that contains all the game info but it's empty!! I've searched through all my files and folders and can't find anything. I'm now totally fed up and think all I can do is abandon the game. I'll have another go to see if I can get anywhere but I'm not hopeful. Thanks for all your suggestions. Geezy

Hi - me again and, guess what, I thought I'd have one last go, and I did it! Yippee!! Thank you again for your help. Geezy

Sometimes the saves are kept separately, have you checked to see if there is a folder in My Documents?

Edit: That's great! yay What did you do differently? So glad you got through.
