TGC – The Games Company, the Berlin-based publisher, finally unveiled for us more details about Simon the Sorcerer 5: Do you speak Extraterrestrial? You don’t? That’s too bad – Simon doesn’t either! Of all people, our cheeky, favorite sorcerer has to save the Magic Kingdom from an invasion from outer space in this point-and-click adventure. During his adventure, he meets a number of vain and dubious characters which he turns into helpers of the third kind: goofy mole agents, giant octopuses, and a transvestite pirate – Simon is spared nothing! For his fifth adventure, TGC gives Simon not only a modern 3D comic look, but also different solutions to the many challenges he faces on his odyssey. In its course, our sorcerer’s apprentice can not only act in his usual mean and vicious way, but also present a whole new side of himself: friendliness! Features: • 5th installment of the world-famous Simon the Sorcerer series • Eventful story full of surprises • Five different scenarios make for a varied gameplay experience • Top-class voice actors • Creation of an individual psychogram at the end of the game depending on your way of playing • Highly detailed 2D/3D graphics using cel-shading • An intuitive control scheme for experts and beginners alike • Quest journal with integrated help function

Simon finally gets friendly now that aliens are attacking? Is that bad timing, or what?
I liked Simon 4 so much, I can't wait for this one!
Edit: I wonder what a psychogram is?

Simon 4 was a wonderful return to a "proper" Simon experience - after the years of waiting for, and then the disaster that was, Simon 3D Can't wait for a Simon 5 from the same team !! Thanks for the great news, Carla

Mad, I am glad that I am not the only one who thought Simon 3D was a big disappointment. I am playing Simon 4 , on and off mode, and enjoying it very much.

I'm looking forward to Simon 5 too As for Simon 3D I replayed it not long ago, and had a blast with it. It's really not that bad as people say it is. Of course I had to get used to the keyboard controls, but after that it was quite fun

When I first got Simon 4 on a trade here...I hadn't a clue about the series..After playing Simon 4...I wanted to play 3D...I never thought I would enjoy it...BUT...I was totally loving it... I got use to the keyboard keys real fast...So now I am trying to bagg Simon 2 here on the trading forum.. Can't wait for Simon 5

I'm beginning to wonder if I played a different Simon 3D to some others here ?? I bought the game as soon as it was released, after having waited years for it, but was never able to finish it because of all the bugs and the terrible problems with the graphics. They made coping with the shocking abundance of difficult arcade sequences - a new and horrible feature in my opinion - practically impossible !! These problems were in part due, I appreciate, to the company "take-overs" that were going on at the time. But having waited so long for the game anyway, I personally would have been much happier to have waited even longer and then been offered a properly finished product. So, whilst I agree that the Simon of Simon IV with his American accent and much less sarcastic nature is obviously NOT quite the original Simon we all so enjoyed (could we at this late date even expect that much ??) I nonetheless consider the game as a game to be superior to Simon 3D in many ways. It was a polished and well produced item. It was fun and entertaining and had good graphics. It had a decent story with decent puzzles. And it ran flawlessly. And I, personally, say "Bravo" to the developers and I am very much looking forward to Simon V Cheers. Mad

Mad. Simon 3d, the arcade sequences, which particular ones did u have trouble with as i didnt find a problem really with any except the invisible path i needed to go in the swamp and i think getting into the castle or whatever it was near the end. But they wernt specifically hard imo. Their was no bugs i found and the gfx were cheap lookin but in a way i reckon that was intentional for a few reasons, one being i bet someone high up in development didnt like 3d at all so wanted to make it look bad and corny on purpose but still fun so it would deter others from going 3d in adv games and the second reason is because well its a simon game, they dont do the norm lol. All in all simon 3d had, humor and buckets load, a wacky but low quality gfx that when u get used to it was fine, decent accent for simon and he has the pony tail which he doesnt in the new games which is a big shame as i hate how he looks now. They made him too human instead of a fantasy character.

SkeeterUK .... Which arcade sequences ?? .... MOST !! I am not good with timed arcade navigation at the best of times but the controls in Simon 3D were some of the worst I've had to deal with - and even when I knew the exact path needed to get through a sequence, I had to go again and again and again (similar to my experiences with the equally dreadful Broken Sword III) until I managed it. No enjoyment in that as far as I'm concerned. And no bugs in your copy ?? .... Mine was full of bugs !! A regular one would be that Simon would do his whizz round in the phone box thing and then completely disappear from the game never to be seen again - and I would have to reload a previous save. He also had a tendency to become "invisible" mid-way through an arcade run and that was just impossible to cope with. Or on other occasions, he would suddenly disappear and just his voice would remain. It was very difficult to play the game in circumstances such as those. [And it wasn't my graphics card. I had a "top of the range" model.] The sad thing about it all was that a corporate decision was made to ditch an already "well into production" 2D version of Simon III in favour of starting a 3D version from scratch. I was so upset when that was announced
