The clues to the game title were in bold parenthesis, Danyboy. In Becky's story, they were: -Parlez-vous française? -ship with 2 masts, furled sails & sailors walking back & forth on deck -Napoleon -sewers -love story -Champ Elysée -tall muscular man carrying the body of another man -barricade That last clue triggered it for me, but Shany beat me to it.

If I use this format again sometime, I'll try to explain it better. The idea is that clues to "Name the Game" are given in the context of a text adventure. You can participate in two ways. 1. By looking at the clues for guessing the Name of an adventure Game, which are in bold italics. LadyK has transcribed a list of all of the clues that were included in this last sequence. 2. By participating in the progress of the text adventure. You can post instructions related to the text -- to combine items that have already been mentioned, for instance, or to walk in a certain direction or to talk to someone or to give an item to someone. There's also (technically) a third way, which has arisen in the course of this sequence -- you can post your guess at the name of the game as if it is (also) an instruction in the text. Sort of two birds with one stone. Are you now MORE confused than before? It is kind of unusual.

Could it be the free game called Knight's Quest III: Tides of Merania?

Nope.
This game was a commercial game but is now free for download. The protagonist is young and a bit of a cliche as far as I recall.
