Oh dear, here I go again! grin
Another text adventure. Why? Because I like to do it. As usual clues will be in italic. First the introduction, it gives me time to decide what game and clues will be offered to you. smile

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night.

You stop at a hotel and walk into the lounge. It looks deserted. There's a desk with a bell on it and some pictures on the opposite side. There are stairs going to the second floor on the north side and there's a door at the west. South is the entrance door.

You are now worried. The haunting melody of 'Welcome to the Hotel California' playing on your DVD player in the car is still ringing around your ears. You weren't exactly listening but you took note of ... 'you can never leave'. The deserted hotel seems quite spooky & starts to make you feel a little paranoid.

>look at the pictures on the wall

The pictures depict some ancient scenes with details that make you shiver. Rapidly you turn around.

>ring bell on desk

There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
this could be heaven or this could be hell
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

She leads you to your room and gives you the key. A strange shaped key chain is attached to it. You open the door and enter the room. It's just an ordinary hotel chamber. and the bed looks very inviting. There's a chip on the nightstand.

What kind of CHIP? Chocolate, potato, casino, or "on the shoulder"? Or?

You lay down on the bed but, although you're tired, you don't fall asleep. Maybe a drink will help. You decide go to the hotel bar, when getting out of the bed, a pair of handcuffs fall from beneath the pillow.
You notice the chip on the night stand is casino chip.

Lilo. not Larry.
Becky, Grim Fandango again? lol

After a bit of strolling around you find the bar, the bartender is dressed as a sailor.

So I called up the captain,
"please bring me my wine"
He said, "we haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine"
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

On the bar is a bowl of snacks, not the usual peanuts but fresh made popcorn. On one of the walls is a picture. From where you are you can't recognize what it depicts.

(Now what do the voices say to that? "Bring that popcorn bowl back here?")

The captain pours you a vodka. The horn looks like it's made of silver. There's an engraving on it, it looks like a constellation. After emptying the horn, it's time to go to bed. The moment your head hits the pillow, you fall asleep. you dream about a shooting star approaching. Suddenly there's a knock on your door..

Should you open the door when you haven't yet had time to change out of your pajamas? You go to the door and say: "Who's there?"

No one answers, you open the door. The hallway is transformed into an oasis in the middle of huge desert. This has to be a dream! Best thing to do is go back into bed. The next morning you wake up. The sunrise makes the sky look like it's on fire.

You stare at the sunrise and think of your friend Martin Mysteré who was always involved in Crime Stories.

Don your new sunglasses that you bought at the bizarre last week, saddle your camel and ride off into the sunrise.

Is it Ankh 3?

I child-proofed my home... but they're still getting in!
