I did jewel slider puzzle and now I am to knock on Bluto door,but when I knock on door I get this remark,I shouuld give him back his satchel etc.What have I missed to get this remark.

I`m at the hospital doing the magnet puzzle. Got the pointers right, 1 and 5. Nothing happened. Had a look at the walkthrough and it says -

Have you done the gas leak puzzle and have taken the satchel behind the pipes? Bluto asked Holmes to get that satchel.

If you did the first of 2 of the heart puzzle; it will open a nd you will get a message with #6 written on it.

I am at the part where I am to put the ladder on the window of abandoned house.Where is this window,the only thing I get is this is the window for the way out.

cigar, the window of the old building is accessible via Finley's boarding house yard. Place the ladder against the wall to the left of the bench.

Still no luck with ladder.The only remark I get is this is the only window for the way out

Are you standing in the yard looking up at the window? Is the ladder fully assembled, and do you have it out of inventory and at top right of screen so you can place it? If you're in first person view, look up high at the window for the hand cursor.

The ladder is assembled and it is at top right but no hand cursor,still no luck.

Did you speak to Finley about everything?
Are you looking up at the window on the left side of the yard, with Holmes standing to the left of the bench that's against the wall there? Adjust your positioning, move around until you get the hand cursor on the window.

I have been at this all yesterday and to-day.Still no luck.I have gone over it and over it.Something is missing?.Maybe I need a save before I lose it.Thanks.

I don't have a save just after the ladder has been placed, unfortunately. The closest I have is after the gas pipe puzzle has been completed, which would mean you missing a chunk of the game. I can send it to you, or we can wait and see if anyone has a save at the point you need.

Let's review:
Bluto asked Holmes to get the satchel at the abandoned apartment.
You go to Finley's boarding house and talked to him.
You picked up items in his trash pile.
You made the ladder.
Now - You prop the ladder on the building left of the bench that is across the trash pile. You do this by looking up at the window on the second floor of the building across the stairs of Finley's. Move the cursor and see an active spot.
Click the ladder on that spot.

I did everything you say.The only active spot I get is This window is the way out,but no active spot to place the ladder.I talked to Finley,picked up items in trash,made the ladder,but no active spot

I think you're at wrong window.
