I am at the spillway and mud flats - can you tell how does mia changes to jep to cross. Last thing I have is the bamboo stick and mia saying jep should try from the bottom of the slope. How do I change to jep?

If I remember, at the bottom left of the screen, you have a text line saying Play Jep.

If Jep is on her shoulders, you can carry him to the muddy area and click on Play Jep. Give Jep the bamboo stick and poke around in there until you find a safe place to move to (the bamboo stick will only go part way down). Raise your cursor and click for Jep to jump to the safe place. Do that 3 times until he is across the other side.

The family picture's frame has lines on them.
Start at top left and study the lines.
You can reproduce those lines on the control panel.
Cycle each squares of the panel to select the lines that would match the frame.

How do I clear the path of the gas? It says to enter the door at right to go to the volcano tube. Is that the door right of the control panel? If it is, that door is still stuck.

I have to prepare the still, but the thiefing monkey has stolen my pipe from the beach. Does someone have an alternative to get the alcohol distilled from fruit? Or do I have to go back to my save games?

Get it back from the thief later in the game and then prepare the alcohol later. I don't think you have metal enough to make a pipe right now.
Or if you want - go back to a saved game.

The levers of the control panel is not completely down. The room at right closes when there is water flowing there. So it seals shut.
So pull both levers to lowest position and the door will open.

When will I meet this thief again in the game? I've reached the inlet and got robbed again, so I've had my 2nd encounter with this thug already. Is it possible to get it back slightly after that?

How did you get your things back. I think he stole my broken bottle with the cork in it and now I'm unable to fish. Is there a way to find him to get it back? Oh....I hope I don't have start over from where I got the bottle initally as I've played alot of the game since then and I will not be a happy camper. Any help would be appreciated. Do I need the fish? Actually after reading MaG's WT fishing sounds rather fun, so even if I don't need the fish, I would like to fish anyway. Do I need the cork?

Then turn to the sea. See a nest at top of a palm tree.
Jump there.
Look down and open the sack. Take the important one you need. You can only get one thing at a time. Then he'll throw you out.

yes - you need a cork painted red for fishing.

I finished the game. I chose both endings, but stuck with the one I knew was right.

Thanks to everyone for their help on this game. It was great - frustrating at times, but great nonetheless.

one part I did like was the reference to M.Ardan from "Voyage". I played that game 2 years ago, It is, start to end a very, very entertaining game, among the Top 10 in MY "Hall of Fame Games" and these 2 games are too....OK, I'm done...Roxx

I think the endings in return to mysterious island 2 made the story more dramatic.

Thanks MaG...I'm really glad for the above post. I was sort of disappointed to read the last couple. Although they didn't give the ending away, they sure do sort of make it rather easy to figure it out. I'm not finished so it would be nice to not find out the ending here as I use this post quite a bit. : (
