Hi Barbara, It's OK - if you can stay with this thread now for any other questions you have on this game, that would be good. It helps us keep track of your progress. Half Moon Reef is a different location to that with the chest puzzle. I found the compass to be pretty useless most of the time, and didn't pay much attention to it. Head for the far left bottom section of the sailing area and navigate around, you should eventually come across a half-moon shape.

Mustang, I presume these monkeys are the ones at top of the cliff. The ones you want to play with are at the Monkey center-sanctuary at NE of the island. Check the map.

Hi mustang, There are two ways you can get to the monkey centre: 1. Take the left path from the resort and follow it North for a while until you come to a small bridge to your right. Cross the bridge and follow the spiralling path around that leads you to the centre. 2. (The long way) Take the right path from the resort and follow it down and around, passing Sangre Beach, heading North and past Bat Steep, until you come to the same bridge to the spiralling path. Check the map on the wall in the resort for quick reference and make a sketch of all the areas and paths, it'll come in handy.

I tried Shy's suggestion of reading decoded journal to prompt metal detector topic but nothing yet. Guess I'll get on with the battery. Read the book back at hotel too. But on Mag's walkthrough, at this point she says "October'69 The caridad is 1 nautical mile SE of the island. There is an iron chest there." Where is that information (that I don't have) from??

I believe it is from the journal, aretha. Have you read the journal from cover to cover? There are more than the 3 pages of text that you decoded. Check that you decoded those pages correctly and are able to read other pages also.
