I've got my ducks in a row, so to speak, (new computer, new printer, high-speed Internet and a box of blank DVDs) and am ready to give Gog.com a try. Are they any tips and/or suggestions regarding using them? I want to save the games to DVDs.
The answer is....chocolate! Who cares what the question is.....

Hi, As I have a slow connection, I installed and use their down loader , as I can pause and it will save where it's at and then go on. I down load the game, any manuels, ect. I put them in a GOG folder. Then I either install and play or burn to a DVD. Make sure your disks are compatible to your burner and computer. I use duel disks so I can put a name on it, no stickys as they seem to be bad for my computers and recorders. It's nice to play GK 2, and others without changing disks, or for that matter using disks. Just turn on and play. Great company and we get to play the old games no dinking around. Charllotte

This sounds like a good way to get old games-What are stickys? What are the DVD disks called? I have CD-RW disks-I assume these are different than DVD disks. My computer plays DVDs but will the CD burner work? Just wondering.

ssgamer How would you burn a 1 or 2 GB game on one disk. All the disks I have are like 750 MB. Do you use two disks? I have a few memory stick that I use. I have two 16GB sticks that I put the games on. thanks Richard

All newer Multi-format drives will support both formats.

bigmamma1, I think ssgamer is referring to the stick-on labels for CDs and DVDs. I agree that they can be a problem in players. I purchased a set of markers that are especially made for use on the disks - I read somewhere that something in the regular permanent markers can cause damage to a disk after a period of time.
As Inland says, CDs are 750 MB and DVDs are either 4.7 GB or 8.5 GB. If your CD burner is fairly recent, it should also burn DVDs. But you'd have to check your user's manual to be sure.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

I didn't explain very well on stickys' just knowing I lost a drive and some pictures a few years back when the fancy pictures on your disks were the rage. Get yourself a LightScribe burner - you can use them to burn a label on the disc. I have a few around the house, love em...
