I can't imagine what the problem is. When I clicked on saved games I get some names from other games that I've played. No matter what I click on in that drop down menu, play, alter ego hw setup, alter ego web, saved games, copy, pin to start menu, add to quick launch, customize or hide this game, none are of any help. Yes ma am, expand on anything that will help me play this game without stops and starts please. I need to go back and check all of the posts for help with the game. Oh, if I uninstall this game will it keep my saved games, wherever they are? I still cannot get a desk icon. If I right click on the icon in "games explorer" I get a icon that says "AlterEgo US-shortcut" and it i s a shortcut to the drop down menu items above.

What dropdown menu are you talking about? You don't start a game by clicking its saved games. You start by clicking the game shortcut, and then load the save you want from inside the game. Yes ma am, expand on anything that will help me play this game without stops and starts please. What video card do you have? Replacing the video card may be the only way you'll get better performance. Few people are willing to do that just for one game. This may be obvious, but some people don't realize that their antivirus is scanning everything they do while they play their games. That's why one of the first troubleshooting suggesions for games is to turn off your antivirus and see if your problems are "fixed." Software firewalls have also been known to slow down games or cause them to crash. You'll probably want to disconnect from the Internet before turning off your antivirus or software firewall. Oh, if I uninstall this game will it keep my saved games, wherever they are? Some games give you the option of keeping your saves when you uninstall. I don't know about this one. Maybe someone else can tell you. You can always back up your save folder before uninstalling. I still cannot get a desk icon. If I right click on the icon in "games explorer" I get a icon that says "AlterEgo US-shortcut" and it is a shortcut to the drop down menu items above. Yes the Games Explorer is full of shortcuts. You need to look where the game is actually installed to find the actual game exe that you right-click.

Anything that I'm clicking on is in the Game Explorer. There is nothing there that is of help to me. I have no idea where the A/E saved games are. I clicked on saved games just to see what was there and I found nothing that pertained to Alter Ego. I have no shortcut! No icon to click on to play. I have to put the disc in the drive in order to play the game. The only place that I see the game is in Control panel/add remove programs. I have no idea where to find the exe. file. Why would nothing about alter ego be in "all programs" or the search window? Well, I'm done. At least for tonight. I am just about ready to give up on this. It's early but I think I shall call it a night. Thanks, Terri

If it does find the Alter Ego exe file, see if you can right-click it. The only place that I see the game is in Control panel/add remove programs. I have no idea where to find the exe. file. Why would nothing about alter ego be in "all programs" or the search window? Are you saying the Start Search didn't find it? Since I no longer have the game I can't check what the exact name of the exe file is. But I would think the game folder would be called Alter Ego.

Hi Jenny. Exactly, the search found nothing for A/E. That's what I was saying, it is NOT listed anywhere on my pc except in the Add Remove programs and Games Explorer. Not in documents, not in search, nowhere. Does this sound right? I'm beginning to think I'm dumber than I first thought. LOL This is so strange.

Oh my. I found it. Thank you! I've never even heard of (x86) folder but knew I had Vista 64 bit version. Not sure what to do. I have datapc, saves, screenshots, setup, tools, A/E.ebr, A/E (which is the application), Engine .config, Engine, RunDev, Script and 3 uninstall....M file,Setupp/uninstall and uninstall dat. Any suggestions what to do? Thank you so much, Terri Hi Jenny. Hold that thought. I may have fixed it. Oops, looks like I lied. Not fixed, will try to go back and set it to default. The cursor/arrow began to float. Before it was very sluggish. I also got this message when I quit and saved the game, Compatibility graphic mode (Low end HW detected) I haven't a clue what this means.

... A/E (which is the application), If double-clicking that is what starts the game, you should be able to make a desktop shortcut by right-clicking it and choosing "Send to Desktop." Compatibility graphic mode (Low end HW detected) I haven't a clue what this means. It sounds like it's telling you your video card is low end. That would explain why you're having problems like sluggishness and floating cursor.

Ok, I now have the shortcut for the game. I did not get the Low end HW detected message until I changed some of the settings in the game. I have now set it back like it was and I see that I am still getting the message. Yes, I think we have established that I have a lousy video card. I need to change it. Thanks for your help Jenny , I appreciate it.
