Hi. About the mazes...
There are SAVEs after the second and third mazes.
The switches are really tricky. Some simply turn obstructions on or off or move caged sections of the tunnel, whilst others do the opposite to those same parts. For maze 1, try these switches: (numbered 1 to 3 across the top, and 4 to 6 down the side) >> 6,5,1,4,2,6,5,1. You can see the path through the maze. The moving cage is shown as a small right-angular piece of tunnel. The dark bits next to it are the jumps you have to make.
Similar set-up for the other mazes. You will see that some paths are blocked and never get unblocked, so you can eliminate these from your route through.
The tar: look for the tables in the mines, where the hammer is/was. Follow the right-hand track, see an overturned truck, the tar is near there I think.

Not sure how to post images on here, heres a link (the word 'mazes') to shots of mazes 2 and 3 after the switches are set (top 2 pics as you will see). I did this from memory and am fairly sure its correct, but don't shout at me if they're the wrong routes!

I guess I missed the old sword also. Do you recall where you got that? All I found in the tunnels was an old hammer and tar. Thanks for any help you can give me.

The sword is not in the tunnel. Leave the tunnel and go to the area where a horn is behind a locked gate. Esplore that area and you will find another horn and also the sword.

Yes, I seem to remember you get the sword (actually a spear) from a skeleton when you explore the tunnels.
Well done Linda!
Good luck with maze 3.
If you get stuck and want to leave the game for a while and you don't have a recent save to go back to, you can always use Alt-Tab to come out of the game back to Windows and return when you want. Well, thats what I did a few times, and it worked out OK.

Please help. I am totally stuck. I am at the place where there is what looks like a dragons head on top of a post with four beams of light shinning on it. I have put the colored jewels on the lights but nothing happens. I have tried all of the combinations I can think of but nothing helps. What am I missing?

From a previous post:

Re dragon thing and gemstones. You have to deliberately expose yourself to the dragon's attacks to make it run out of strength. Press 1,2,3 and 4 to protect yourself - and keep these 'topped up' during the attack. Stand in front of the creature and let it attack. You should see the lights on its head start to go out as its strength ebbs away. Hope it works for you!

I have found only two gates in the mazes/tunnels area. One had a skeleton behind it and another blocked the path. Neither had a horn nor a spear behind it. I've looked everywhere else. I guess I doomed to spend all eternity in the mazes and tunnels beneath London! Thanks for trying to help...

Gamil, Go to the gate that is made of many steel rods. There is a lever there that you must pull. That will raise the rods. This is a trap so you must block the rods before you enter. The horn is behind this area and when you leave here you will find the spear.

you have to match the colours of the lights on the post, which includes the purple (red and blue gemstone together) to get the dragon to come to life. if the dragon is still static it means you have not matched them.

Smokey,
The only gate made of steel rods I find has the skeleton behind it (and no lever). Is the gate you're talking about on the upper or lower level? Is it in the hall maze or the tunnels or somewhere else. Is it in the chapter prior to the one in which we find the mazes and the tunnels? Thanks again...

Gamil,
The gates are in the hall maze. In the hall maze go down the stairs. At ther bottom and to the left is the locked gate with the horn behind it. If you go to the right at the bottom of the stairs and go thru the maze you will find the gate with alever near by. I hope this helps. If not let me know.

Vic,
Thanks so much for the help. I just needed to combine the red and blue jewels. I am now on my way again.

Sorry Smokey, I didn't realise you hadn't actually activated the dragon yet. You have 5 coloured gems. Go across to the wall and place them in position - Blue at the top, then Red next down, then Yellow, then the other red plus the other blue to make purple. The dragon thing should activate.
Gamil, would you believe the spear is the only item I didn't write down as I played. You know where the horn is behind the grill with the skeleton behind it? Turn around and go forward and I'm pretty sure the spear is in that section. Its just such a drag having to retrace your steps to 'refind' these things, but I'll prob have a go and let you know.

Ok, heres how you get the spear. From the horn-behind-the-grille, turn around, go forward, Left, Right, R, L, R, L, jump twice, down stairs. See pedestal and switch on wall. Flick switch, be Hyde, push pedestal under spikes, crawl under. Get horn - door shuts behind you - up stairs, IMPORTANT: get and read the page on the altar. Do switch on wall, get spear, forward, R, back to start.

I can't believe I actually got the first horn and the spear (thanks to you all!) But now, standing before the gate with the second horn, how do I reach it with the spear? I can't thank you enough for moving me along. Know that you've prevented a nervous breakdown!

Now you need to go back into the mines and find something to apply to the end of the spear to make the second horn stick to it.

I have the tar. But how do I make it stick to the spear? I can't heat the tar with the matches, and I can't combine the tar with the spear.

I just added something to the 'get spear' instructions. Theres an important page in the hall where the spear was, reading it enables you to get a key in the mines. So if you didn't already get it, go back for it.
Go down to the small tunnel next to the table where you found the hammer. At the end is a stalagmite (reading the page about this triggers its appearance), hit it with the hammer, get encrusted key. Combine bottle of acid with dish (have you got these? they are in the large cavern which you should have visited previously) and key to get clean key. Open the grille, left tunnel - you should be able to figure it out from here! (Hint: 3 items to collect)

You need to go somewhere with the tar, where there is wood and straw, make a fire, get a pot, heat it, then dip the spear in it, then you can get the 2nd horn as it sticks to the spear.
