I just started to play KQ3 Redux, and things are somewhat different than in the "normal" KQ3 game. For instance, when I try to find the trapdoor in the floor in Mannanin's office, there is a hidden panel on the right side bookcase. When opened, it reveals four levers with a symbol above each lever. I SUPPOSE that this is some kind of a puzzle that must be done in order for the trapdoor to open. At this point I would need a WALKTHROUGH for this particular version of the game. The AGDI site says that there is a walkthrough coming SOON.. I sure hope so, fellow Boomers. Maybe Mag or Chief will come up with one soon. HINT, HINT, HINT!

Medusa isn't where you expect her to be either and there's an annoying new character waiting for you. <g> Some other changes, too. I guess we'll just have to wander around and see what we can see for a while. It's a good thing that the wizard doesn't take forever to go off on his jaunts in this rewrite and leaves us time to wander.

Gil.

I would love a walkthrough for this game too. Chris van Zyl did an excellent job on the other King's Quest 3 VGA walkthrough, but this 1 has different puzzles. Almost as if it's a different game. So the walkthrough you suggested, MaG probably will not help sanford.

This game is already driving me nuts as well. The answer to your question about the levers can be found in the abandoned library, btw. I'm stuck on trying to find the stupid mandrake root and how to get the bard to the lute or vice versa.

Thanks, Mag, but I'm afraid Chris's walkthrough won't work for the KQ3 Redux version. It's ok for the KQ3 REMAKE version, however. The puzzle in the bookcase with the 4 levers has left me "puzzled". Those symbols above each lever apparently are the clue for opening the trap door. You just have to pull the levers in a certain order, I guess. I'll keep looking for the answer, and if so, I'll post it in the hints forum(but only as a HINT, of course).

I just posted it. lol

Grab the book in the abandoned library and read it. The library is a new addition. It's sort of hidden behind the tavern and the general store.

Mandrake Root is behind the Spiders Cave. Become an eagle to get into the cave (same as the original I think). I'm stuck on the bridge off the island atm : /

Thanks so much Chief, for this You Tube walkthrough.I've done everything up to the beginning of Part 3, not bad for an "old" man. LOL I'm sure I will get some answers to the "levers" puzzle now.

Rushes: You're welcome, and thanks! I've been playing adventure games since KQIII debuted. I'm surprised I haven't found my way to this forum before now.

Ord: Use the hand icon to click on the map and three objects will appear on the broken pillar. Took me FOREVER to figure it out. The map gives you these ridiculously cryptic clues, but you can figure out the bridge and the swamp that comes next pretty much by saving a lot and trial and error.

Okay, has anyone tried casting a spell? I'm on page one, I have all the ingredients but it's not working.

The spells are a little tricky. I had to write notes down before I started to make sure I had everything in order. The key is to read very, very carefully and follow the steps exactly. Don't use the hand on anything unless it tells you specifically to do something to that item (kiss, blow on, shape, etc.) Otherwise, just use the feather to combine items in your inventory with the correct page of the spellbook open. Also, if you put something in the mortar, be sure to click on it with the hand to grind before adding anything else.

Thanks, SS. I think my problem is I didn't expect them to alter the way the spells work, too. Yeah, I know, dumb.

Yeah, the one thing that's irritating me is that the game can be really confusing for people who played the original. A lot is left intact, but some of it is changed just slightly enough to frustrate the heck out of you. At least with the puzzles that are completely new, you don't have the frustration of trying to follow the original story arc only to discover they've thrown in a twist that makes no sense whatsoever. I still haven't decided what I think about this version. I guess I'll wait until I finish it to decide.

Agreed. One thing that does irk me is that it's hard to identify some of the different items in inventory. They're just pixelated blobs at first glance.

Click to reveal..
I don't know what I think about the sleep cycles. On the one hand, it makes things easier; on the other, it takes some of the suspense out of the game because you can force the wizard to show up.
(Didn't know whether I should hide that or not so I played safe.)

Gil.
