I have heard Bracken Tor's release date was April 22 in 2 different places, NOW I hear the date has been pushed back AGAIN to May. I think I'm giving up on it for now, I can't wait forever. I have left money in limbo since last year for this game while I could be playing Conspiracies 2 now.

It is likely being released end of May first week of June. I posted it in the Interact preorder thread. When there is an official announcement we will post and sticky it as always.

I am curious about the history of this games release. Last December when the game was first supposed to release and after the developer gave the game to Iceberg Interactive (Publisher) The game was delayed for 2 months. When Matt Clark mentioned this I got the impression that he was perturbed with this delay. I am guessing that Matt would not have given them a defective game so what could the delay be? Could it be that Iceberg didn't want to release the game at that time of year because of other releases they have? Could subsequent delays be caused by lack of funds on their part or other projects having priority? Its hard to believe that the game could have so many problems that needs so much time to fix. Hmmmm...I am curious

I wish there was something as hopeful about Coven.
I initially heard about Coven and Bracken Tor around the same time. But while we've had updates about Bracken Tor we've heard nothing about any work being done on Coven.

I just hope that for both games the requirements are not too steep...in otherwords not needing the most up to date PC.! played the first part of Braken Tor just fine and all the Lost Crowns as well so hope when they do come out i will be able to play them!

Dang. Sad to see this get pushed back. But I guess a bit more polishing and more features can't hurt it. Will still be getting this the second it is available. LOVED the first game.

I heard that, Gamenut! I think most adventurers are playing with perfectly good XPs. I know it got right up my back when this happened with one game that the release was held up for adjustments so users of the then new Windows 7 could also play the game. I'd lose respect for anyone who would do such a thing. I really love gaming but would not buy a new PC (when nothing is wrong with the one I have) to play a game. If I really needed a new PC I would try to get one and hope it would be able to play the games I like, not the other way around.

This is all very silly. Some 53% of computers on this planet run XP. It will be the dominant OS for some years. Anyone remember Vista? Microsoft is now shipping OEM Windows 8. A year from now it will be Windows 9. There will not be enough room on the box to print when it is Windows 32.

It is not a matter of any consequence to me since I build my own computers and I have retail copies of XP and lots of spare parts. If a game will not play on XP, I won't buy it. I have some great RP games on my shelf that I have not played and a number that can be replayed several times. I am set.

I'm all for everyone, with whatever operating system they have, being able to play this game or any other !!

But I am desperately hoping quite a few more games will released that us folks with aging machines will still be able to play

Support for WinXP is supposedly continuing until 2014 ??

I feel your pain:-) I was still using Win98 untill about 2 1/2 years ago. Jumped from that to Vista.

I kept my Win98SE machine.

And went for WinXP on the next one - my current one.

Just never fancied Vista at all

My XP runs very well--but doesn't have the newest graphics card...and a lot of the newer games are wanting to use those(i can't blame the developer..you'd want to "up" your graphics..i understand that)But i wish they'd remember a lot of us do not have those...BUT we's still like to plunk our $$'s out for games that will still run on our older xp machines. I play a lot of Casual games that have really great atmosphere and effects that are very satisfying on the xp..so wish developers would not leave us out of the loop. I will be so glad when Braken Tor comes out..just hope i'll be able to play it on my machine! Enjoyed the first one from Mr Clark several years ago so much from this developer! Also looking forward to the next one from Mr Boakes.(and hope will be able to play it!)-ditto next one from Mr Fisher!!! So far those 3 developers are the only ones i'm looking forward to this year.

Hi BubbaJake, most games released seem to try & support the last few OS's but if a new OS is introduced during development of a game I can see why the developers would want to update it to work.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to join in w/ Greyfuss, wondering what might be going on with the game. It would be great if they could make a little announcement saying something like, "The game has been pushed back due to....personal reasons, lack of funding, loss of game files-need a re-do, etc.". I think their fans (like me and you guys) would be very supportive of them and the game as long as they let us know what's going on.

Just my two cents guys---and btw, I am STILL looking forward to this game so if you're reading this Matt or Jonathan I'm in your corner, just incredibly impatient!!!

Sorry Win7 people. I LOVE my XP. It WILL NOT properly play some older games without patches or fiddling. My ME 2000 LOVES Tex (which I have from GOG and can play on XP) TLJ, Dark Side Of The Moon, etc. no fiddling required. Can't play newer games. My VISTA PLAYS...uh,I can't remember if it plays anything since I hate laptops (which it is)
I will keep my XP. I still have Win95 but it sits, gathering dust and entertaining my cat who loves that primitive OS. Oh, the Win 95 does play Amber, but my cat only games on platform systems.

My cat usually doesn't pay attention to my games, except to complain when I'm not paying attention to him, but lately I'm replaying "The Lost Crown", and he likes me to hold him so he can watch Danvers walking around on the screen, lol. Don't ask me why this particular game fascinates him, but it does.

He senses that something bad is going to happen in that game!

And he's right! All kinds of evil stuff takes place, but at least he lets you enjoy the parts he doesn't really like or understand. My cat (Mike) likes to end the games mid keystroke for me (whether I want him to or not) He looks down on PC gamers as if he can afford his own Playstation and games!
He's too lazy to hold a job and he knows it.

I agree, Gamenut. I feel left out especially when I wait centuries for the new game (THE BLACK MIRROR 2) after having played and loved the original and now have the new game AND CANNOT PLAY IT! I approach getting Bracken Tor (a game I have already pre purchased) with trepidation. Poor Dave has been patient with me, but I might just jump ship for real if it takes much longer.

I had e mail correspondence with the PR department of Iceberg Interactive yesterday because I wanted to know about the current status of Bracken Tor.
I was told that there is no firm release date for Bracken Tor at the moment so the game definitely won't be released in April. However, I was told that there will be a pressrelease about Bracken Tor soon. Guess we will have to wait for that pressrelease until we know about the new release date. Hope it won't take too long.
