CD Access has this reference to it - maybe it will work with 7 as well.

Requirements:
Windows 95/98/Me, P II 233 Mhz, 32 Mb RAM, AGP Card recommended

Windows XP requires that you use Windows 98/Me compatibility mode to install the program, otherwise you will receive a "ISDX_ERR_BADWINDOWSVERSION" error message. Complete information is available at the following: http://www.adventurecompanygames.com/tac/support/kb_select.php?p=support_data/winxp_tm_all

Before starting play you should apply the patch available at:

http://www.adventurecompanygames.com/tac/support/pc/patches/patches.php

Unfortunately the www.adventurecompanygames.com and www.dreamcatchergames.com websites are gone for good now. Instead you get that webpage with the smirking woman.

You can try accessing them through the excruciatingly slow Web Archive, but don't get your hopes up.
http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

You can still get the patch from Gamefront
http://www.gamefront.com/files/905273

According to the readme included with the patch, it's a CD check fix.

Try this:

Right-click the installer file on the game CD (it's probably called Setup or something similar)

After right-clicking, Choose Properties
Choose the Compatibility tab
Change to Compatibility mode for Windows 98/ME

Now install the game by directly clicking on the tweaked Setup file on the game CD.

EDIT --

I see Inferno has already laid this out in her ***Time Machine Setup***. She also suggests disabling visual themes and advanced text services if you see them on the compatibility tab.

There should be the ability to change the setup to to Windows 98 compatibility in Windows 7 as well as XP.

Windows 7 allows you to go all the way back to Windows 95 in compatibility mode. Use the same steps Jenny gave you as far as right clicking on the setup file on the disk. Then select Troubleshoot Compatibility and follow the prompts. It will ask you to start the game from the little compatibility window to test it. If it works, then you can save the setting.

OK, now try PLAYING the game in compatibility mode and see what happens. Right click on the game icon and select Troubleshoot Compatibility and follow the prompts again. I hope it works...

I read inferno's page and I think she's talking about using the audio adjustments within the game. Can you get into the options before starting the game?

I just read Inferno's set up for this game and I think you are right Caz. She is talking about about the audio acceleration. I don't have Win 7 so I hope someone else can tell you how to do that.

Windows 7 and Vista don't have hardware audio acceleration, so there's nothing to disable. You may be able to reduce video acceleration on Vista or Windows 7 if your drivers allow it.

I have been trying to install the time machine on my pc but I do get that error message and I think I am pretty savvy when it comes to working around a system, BUT I think I'll wait to see about trying to install it again. Thanks everyone for all the help. confused
