There is only one version out there since there is only one publisher. Ana

[quote=BrownEyedTigre] "It's not the developers choice to add the limited activations Mad, it's the publisher. The US publisher may not fo that." OK. So if Interact have an "imported" version from the UK publisher - I guess it will have "activations". Only a possible future downloadable version via a US publisher might not ?? My efforts to obtain a "no activations" version appear to be temporarily doomed then

Well, if it ever gets to GOG.... Or DotEMU, which is also DRM-Free. Even Gamersgate offers some DRM-Free games, but you have to check because they sell both DRM-Free games and those that require activation.

Oh, I'm sure Dave will find plenty of buyers, BrownEyedTigre. Many people prefer disk versions of a game. And he IS the only US seller ?? I only asked the activation question myself because the copy I've already bought here in the UK had those restrictions. But if Dave was going to be selling a version that didn't, I'd have given my current copy to a colleague and bought another from him As for GOG getting it ?? I thought "GOG" stood for "Good Old Games" and that is what I buy from them .... OLD games made playable on modern systems. If they intend to start regularly selling new games I think a change of name will be in order

GOG has already said they're just GOG now, that it doesn't stand for Good Old Games anymore. Their 'new' games are games that are a few years old. The only really new ones are Indies like Botanicula. They are still bringing back old games and mean to keep on doing it. Question: Did you have any idea when you bought your boxed copy of Captain Morgane that it had a limited number of activations? Do they let you know that up front wherever you buy it? Gil.

Oh, well, I just hope the "really old" games will remain GOG's priority. It has been wonderful to have some of the goodies from the past playing so well on a modern machine. I suppose what's defined as "old" could be the next debatable topic. Of course, I don't call a game old till it's about ten !!!! Yes, I knew in advance (from someone posting here at Gameboomers) that the UK disk version had activation restrictions. But as disk versions don't always stay available for long periods (and games carrying activations are a risky "used" buy) I decided to go ahead. However, a "non activation" disk release would still be a great temptation I don't see any indication on the outer cover that activation will be required but once the shrink wrap is off and the case opened - there's no avoiding that line of numbers

There is absolutely nothing on the box to indicate a limit on activations Mad! (or at least I couldn't find anything!) I think I find that more objectionable! I do think disc versions should be advertised with restrictions on activations if they exist, or whether an on-line account registration with somewhere like Steam is required as in the case of the Rockin' Dead where there is also nothing on the box to indicate that. In my mind this is deceptive practise which should be outlawed - the info should be up-front so you can make your decision BEFORE you buy! (without having to rely on external info from forums!) But, on a more positive note, aside from not being able to sell the disc versions on, there are a lot of games I would like to play again but only a few I would want to play more than 5 times!

" It's not just "selling" chrissie, I give quite a few of my games to a local charity - for the young adults they look after - and I can't do that with downloads or activate-required games As for playing more than five times, there aren't too many games in that category for me, either, but there ARE SOME !!
