I bought this from GOG recently and am enjoying it. However, I've got stuck.

I'm past Pope Joe. There is a place where I climb into a ventilation tunnel and come out above, looking down at the room where all of the doorbells are located.

I believe that I am supposed to jump ahead and grab onto some rungs ahead of me, but I can't figure out how to do that from crouched position in the vent shaft. Any move I make results in a fall.

Anyone got any ideas?

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, there is a FAQ walkthrough here that may help.

I haven't played this so can't judge accurately where you are when I read it. Have you found the Civil Guard clothes yet?

I'm finding that things in the walkthroughs don't seem to happen in the game. For instance, a character is supposed to walk up to me at a certain point and doesn't and as a result I can't clear a quest.

The walkthrough I looked at suggests that in the vent area I described above I should just "drop down into the Armoury." If I drop down I just end up where I started, no Armoury in sight.

I did find the guard clothes.

SO now the quest I'm stuck on now is past that point. I am supposed to do a quest for someone who wants me to find out where the PPP hid his red something or other, tubes I think. I can find the two PPP members in courtyard A, but they dont have any dialogue options. Can't kill them. The Walkthrough tells me that I should go to the Feed Ward and kill someone who will come at me, and then afterwards Asif will walk into the hallway and I can kill him to get the info to complete the quest. BUT Asif is not in the Feed Ward. He is in courtyard A. And I know I have to somehow get open those glowing panesl on the wall, but I can't because I can't kill Asif, because he isn't where he is supposed to be.

Hagatha, did you go to the Feedward and see if you could interact with anything that would make the npc come so you could kill him which then might cue Asif to come? I wonder if there is a trigger for this event. Can you go to another area and then come back?

From the FAQ I linked above:
Quote:
Talk to Gulag and he will tell you about a Red Tube he needs that was stolen
by the PPPs (Cricket and Asif). Agree to help:

>>Side-Mission Activated (Gulag)
******************************
Find Red Tube for Gulag.

When you were in the Feed Ward earlier and went into Cricket's and Asif's
stash you also found Gulag's Red Tube so talk to him again which will
complete his Side-Mission and he will reward you with:

So did you get into Cricket and Asif's stash in the Feed Ward?

No. I can see the stash, but I can't get into it. Asif won't talk to me, I saw where he went, but the thing won't open.

In the end I just skipped all these quests and went forward. I'm now really stuck, with no ammo and an impossible area to traverse. Not sure I can actually continue, and hate to go back, but I may have to.

It would help if the map was better. It's fairly useless. Anyway, I'll give it another shot tomorrow.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hmmm, sorry to hear that. It really bugs me when I can't get a quest to trigger. Sounds like there may be an earlier quest that led to this one, or perhaps it's a bug?

Yup. Good old Wiz 8.

You know, though, I've never finished it. I've been almost to the end, but not all the way. This time, I'll finish it. It's a great game, really, on par with MM7 in my list of top 20.
