I believe they also provided a patch to convert the original DOS version to use DirectX (Windows 95). I don't recall if it ran patched under DOSBox (or ScummVM) though.
The Scumm site says both DOS and Windows versions are supported,
but doesn't say anything about a patched DOS version
http://scummvm.org/compatibility/DEV/t7g/Just for a glimpse into the past, you can find the old Trilobyte download page for the 7th Guest and 11th Hour DirectX patches on the
***Web Archive***The patches were small enough that the web archive archived them along with the download webpage.
Note that I am ***NOT*** recommending anyone use these old patches unless they want to play the original DOS versions on Windows 95/98, either on an old Win95/98 computer or inside a Virtual Machine. I doubt the patch converts the original 16-bit code to 32-bit, since it was not necessary for Windows 95/98 -- and 16-bit code won't work on 64-bit Windows.
