Now for list number 14 (can you believe that?)

Our annual list provides the answer to the question "If I want to play an adventure game, what would you recommend".

So long as you think a game you have played is worth recommending to someone else to play, put it on your list. But only if its an adventure game. There is some latitude for those fuzzy round the edges games that are hard to define.

As always, there are some rules:

1. Games in our Hall of Fame are ineligible, on the basis that we know they are worth playing else why would they be in there. Votes for those games won't be counted. Those games are:

Longest Journey
Lost Crown
Myst
Riven
Sanitarium
Syberia
Syberia 2
Timelapse
Zork Nemesis
Zork Grand Inquisitor

2. You can recommend a maximum of 20 games. You can choose to recommend less.
3. You cannot recommend a series. If you want to recommend all the Tex Murphy games, that will take 5 separate recommendations, one for each game.
4. Episodic adventures will be counted as one game, regardless of where they are up to in the series.
5. Uru and its add ons will be counted as one game.
6. BadMojo and the Redux version are one game.
7. Directors cuts and Special Releases will be counted as the same game.
8. Adventure games only (Dark Side games and Casual games get their own lists).
9. PC games please (although if you sneak a console game in I won't tell)
10. I promise to count Corrosion this year!

If at all possible, please list in alphabetical order - it makes counting so much easier. In doing so, ignore "the" (so The Dark Eye would be under "D" for Dark)

The thread stays open for about 3 weeks, and I will post updates as we go. Also, avoid editing your lists after posting because Chief and I count as we go, and may miss a change.

Hi all
You can't keep a good Knight down. GK1 is pushing last years winner all the way at this stage, with Still Life just behind. Gogness no doubt helps, as does the quality of the original.
Tex and Sherlock not too shabby either. TLJ, Broken Sword 1, GK3 and Black Mirror 2 also doing well.
Corrosion is on the board and Isabelle isn't (yet).

One word about Loom. There are different editions of this game. The superior one is the japanese (english) FM Towns (PC) version. It's freely available if you bought Loom from Steam. (Probably elsewhere from as well, but none I know of) So why is it superior? This is why: it's the only version where Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker suite, the music of the game, in a wonderful blip blop orchestration :-), isn't cut up and amputized. The same goes for the beautiful dialogue portraits, secret of Monkey Island style.

As always, two lists follow, one numerical, one alphabetical. I have started the numerical list with the Hall of Fame games, and included the Hall of Fame games in the alphabetical list. They are marked **.
I have used full as well as alternate titles where I have known them. I no doubt missed a few. In the alphabetical list, I have taken some liberties with names to get series together where possible. It wasn’t always possible, so on a couple of occasions I have marked a game as a sequel. I have also numbered the series games to assist with the order in which they were developed. Be warned - they may not be sequels, just additional games in a series, or even prequels.
I used that list to create the numeric list, so the liberties remain. I will cross check and edit later to make sure actual titles are shown (eg Dreamfall rather than Longest Journey 2). The games on my shelf will have final say (including those that are numbered).
There are a couple that might push the adventure game boundary, but you can make those decisions for yourself.
