I've been curious. Does anyone take advantage of the extras in the CE versions of the games...other than extended game play and strategy guides? Unless a lot of folks are "big" on screensavers, concept art, etc., it may be worthwhile for the developers to save their efforts (and some gigs of memory) and leave those things out. I know I take advantage of the extended game play and strategy guides but never even look at the other extras much less use them. Am I alone here?

I do look at the screensavers and the concept art but that's about it. I saw one person on the Big Fish forums who found a creative use for the screensavers in the CEs; she said that she uses a program where you can create your own jigsaw puzzles and takes the screensavers from the CEs and turns them into jigsaw puzzles which she can then put together. I thought that was an interesting idea. wave

A few CEs had some extras that were notably different from the rest. ERS sometimes provides music sheets along with the soundtrack -- great for those who play the piano. I remember Enlightenus II even bundled an entire game in their extras section, one of their older earlier games. Phantasmat, I believe, had a making-of video or some kind of bloopers video, or an interview with the developer. Another game (was it Sherlock Holmes?) had a copy of the e-book in text format that you could read. Also, a few CEs include replayable mini-games that you could access outside of the adventure.

Marian, that really does sound like an interesting idea. I wonder if BF could offer that program?

Big Fish offers a few jigsaw puzzle games where you can create your own jigsaws.

I just checked the post on the Big Fish forum where the poster described turning her CE screensavers into jigsaw puzzles, and she said she uses Jigsaw Puzzle 2 in order to do this. Jigsaw Puzzle 2 is offered by Big Fish. smile

DanceWarrior, good mentions on your part; some of the CEs do have different extras. I believe Beauty and the Beast included the text of the original story as well. wave

Thanks for checking and for all the info, Marian. That jigsaw puzzle program sounds like something I'd like. I didn't even know it existed.

Thanks to you, too, DanceWarrior. Guess I'm going to have to start checking out ALL the game extras. Been missing too much it seems.

Nope. I buy the CE's for the extra gameplay. Even the Strategy Guide isn't a big deal for me since there are wt's for most Big Fish games.

However, the jigsaw puzzle option is a nice idea. Just not something I'd bother with. I spend enough time playing the games in the first place. No time for jigsaw puzzles. grin

Cappy,

I agree with Marian. Jigs@w Puzzle 2 on Big Fish is the one I used (it's a steal at $6.99) until my brother convinced me to try lenagames. BigJig, their main jigsaw game has a tool that comes with it that I now use for building all of my own jigsaws of just about any size. The site address is: http://www.lenagames.com/ if you are interested. It can be tried for free and comes with 4 free puzzles.

I have been hooked on Bigjig for so many years now - Lena is a whizz at making these games!

Thanks, OldMan, for the link. I'll look into BigJig and give it a try.....after I try the BF one. I have a credit burning a hole in my pocket, and I need one more regular game this month. Perfect combination I'd say. thumbsup

You are quite welcome Cappy.

Like I said used the one from Big Fish for a long time and enjoyed it a lot. What caused me to switch was Lena has an option to turn off the puzzle lines that I liked a lot and she gives you a free Bigjig puzzle every week (and at least 4 extra at Christmas time). That and the fact that you can do the Astra Jigsaw puzzles (also on her site) in the Bigjig program, too. Love her taste in puzzles such as old Master paintings and scenery from around the world along with a lot of pictures just right for my grandchildren.
