I'm really confused, Kszanz, because you don't use "save as" in saving a game, and they won't be under "file". You access the saves from within the game--have you looked at your game folder to see if they are even there?
If no-one else has a solution for you, when I get a few minutes, I'll install my copy and see how the saves work. It's been so long since I played that I haven't the faintest idea...

I just dug out my game and this is what the manual says about restoring a saved game: "Choosing 'Restore Game' will open the standard Windows 'Open' dialog box. Simply navigate to the location of your saved game, select the game you would like to restore and click 'OK'. Restoring a game links you back to a saved Age of Myst. You always return to an Age at the location where you first entered. The items in the Age will be restored just as you left them, so you can take off where you left off..."

Vanje, if the doors won't open, it's possible that you have a glitch, but more likely there's something wrong with what you're entering. The sounds not only have to be correct, but they have to be in a specific order. Are you sure you have the order right...

Even when you have them in the right order, it's tricky. There are a couple sounds that are almost identical, and I alway seem to choose the wrong one the first time. One of the Walkthrus has a snap of the position, you can usually manage to fiddle the buttons to the right spot with a few tries. Also, you have to back COMPLETLY out of the puzzle so it resets. On one play, I even had to walk around some before it reset properly. Now, once you get IN is the 'fun' puzzle.

Vanje........Almost everything you want to know about the MYST puzzles is HERE . To open the tunnel to access the ride you can slide the slider, left to right, as shown here 5, 1, 9, 4, 3. Be sure you count the bottom position of each as # 1. kszanz.....Save = saving over previous saves, generally. Save As= makes each save a new save in addition to leaving your previous saves intact. As I recall, MYST let you put your saves wherever you wanted on your harddrive so you have to find out where they are in order to "Load" old saves and where to place "new" saves.
I didn't do it......and if I did I'm not guilty!
