Keymaster, if you visualize the room with the path in it as a huge clock, with the stairs going down to the path at about six o'clock, the place where you start the path will be at about two o'clock. Also, this puzzle is VERY picky about where you step, so even if you are starting at the right place, it may be that you are stepping one step too far somewhere. Be sure to always move one step at a time, and don't get too near the edges of the path. When you are in the middle, there may be a hesitation before the path goes down even if you are right...

As a note to AM's post--if the floor tile puzzle you are talking about is the one with the pictures of trees on it, Bert Jamin has a picture of the path you need to take in his walkthrough here at GameBoomers...

Yes, it was the one with the lights that switch on and off. Thanks for the hints everybody. I'll give it another try.
Hope you feel better too, Kay.

Thanks everybody. Sometimes I think those games know when I give up and go for help. I was more careful with my steps and it worked - I think I may have been cutting one of the corners too tightly. Looking forward to the other two Uru games as well!

If you have been pressing buttons, there's an excellent chance that you've gotten some turned off or on that shouldn't be. Try this: Turn off all the buttons, so that the floor is completely dark and none of the buttons is lit. Then press the 2, 3, and 5 button in that order. Now you should see a definite shadowy path that starts at about 2:00 (if the room were a big clock) and winds to the center. This is what you walk on, and be very careful not to go off into the white areas. I actually used "walk" here, rather than "run", and in a couple of tricky places, I took it one step at a time...

I squared up right against the buttress before I started walking towards the middle, and this seemed to help - I think.
