Witchie-luv, did you go on down the corridor past the door where the lever you pulled was located? If you did, at the end of the corridor, when you came out of the door there is a shell marker on the wall (I think it's to the right, but I wouldn't swear to that). After you press that, link out to Relto and then back by the shell marker. This should bring you back into a different control center, and when you pull the lever this time the door should open.
If it doesn't, yell again and we'll go through the whole long process step by step--you will have missed a step somewhere if it doesn't work...

Hi there, Ms. Jenny.......Thanks~ Yes, I did go down the corridor past the door and the lever...on to the shell symbol. I pressed it and then went to Relto and came back (did this several times) but the lever on the door doesn't work. I guess I must have missed something before this? Witchen

Yes, I'd guess you probably missed a step somewhere, luv. I finally gave up on this part and went step by step following the walkthrough or I would probably still be swimming around out there! You may have to do the same, to see exactly what you missed... <img border="0" alt=" " title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

One good thing, luv, is that you can start back at the beginning where the quabs were and go through each of the steps in turn--it doesn't really matter where you were before. The only thing that threw me off was that I had gone to the cavern where the statue of Kadish is, and I had an awful time getting out of there, because I didn't think to look at the far end of the walkway...

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! And I mean that most sincerely, because I have been gamed completely out in Ahnonay...most severely! OMG! I don't know how anyone could have gotten through the later part of Ahnonay without a walkthrough. Thanks to Coelho Budha for his help! This is the most incredibly long, convoluted and complicated linking session possible. I made it through Ahnonay at last! Thanks for your help, Jenny! If it weren't for your advice I'd still be wandering aimlessly through one of the permutations of Ahnonay, or one of the "control centers," sunburnt, skinny, parched and begging for death. bwahahahahahahaha....... I have only done a small part of Er'cana so far--there is some neat scenery, but I haven't hit anything that's as much fun as the swimming yet...

Well, I'm pretty good in the "sense of direction" department, but this was Gertrude Eberly all over again. Yikers! I don't want to come across as being negative about Path of the Shell, though. Its really quite wonderful. The swimming is fun and a great addition to the game. Perhaps that's why the developers built in so much of it. The graphics are, in line with the precedent set by URU, just delightful, along with the imagination put into the production design. In a word, awesome. The game also maintains that strange feeling of suspense and eerie ambience that I always find enticing. While playing, if someone other than my character appeared suddenly (like when you knock on the door in the Jungle VIllage in Riven) I think I'd have had a heart attack. Witchen

First job in there is to turn on the power--did you see a switch on the wall? (Hint, it doesn't exactly look like an electric light switch, but more like one of those that you pull down.) After you get the power going, go through the door by the switch...

This is where I was stuck for weeks! Turned out I didnt have those telescopes set right. I just *thought* I had them set right... wwheeee! I found out the hard way that if you manage to leave different settings on the 4 different telescopes and get the system on, the game tends to crash when you get the resulting capsules. Just thought I'd mention that... and yes, ahnonay had me totally confused too. I got through the initial loop okay and even found the first 3 control centers eventually but the 4th eluded me until I got some help. Susan

They are around the wall where you got on the big elevator. I found the backpack at the very back of the complex on top ~ where you could see the white mountains. Unless the different games put it in different places, You passed the telescopes on the way there. They are also the yellow dots in the computer screen controls. Since this part has a map, that might help. Setting them properly is the next challenge. Susan

Hi there Aussiemystic .... and thanks for responding. I haven't had a chance to get back to the game yet, but I have gotten around the "blockage" up near where I found the backpack and I touched the shell marker there. It didn't look like I could proceed, so I came back down to the grinding wheel room. I guess that's where I screwed up. I'll try to get back there, if I can find my way again. Thanks to all. Witchen

Hi again, gang! Okay, I found the "apparatus" and the linking book with the Bahro Stone; however, I have no power for the four telescopes. I went back to the control room and tried to power up the four yellow circles but they won't respond. Is the power for the telescopes the up/down switch in the grinding stone room? I may have left it in the wrong position. Or is there another switch I missed? I tried the switch there as you enter the room where the telescopes are, but that doesn't turn on the lights in there, so I figured it must be the switch in the grinding stone room? Thanks whole bunches! Witchen

I'm trying to remember, and I think the switch is in the grinding stone room, to the left of one of the doors. It seems to me that I pulled it down...

Thanks, Jenny and Susan. I'm on the switch coming into the telescope area. So, it must be the switch in the grinder room. I'll go back. Thanks! Witchen
