Good morning!
This message contains spoilers.
I am playing the 1992 LucasArts adventure game, which I bought on GOG during its recently-completed summer sale, and I am stuck in the desert, even while using a cheat book--*Prima's Secrets of the Games: CD-ROM Classics* chapter 13, "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis", pages 219-256.
After getting the Sunstone (one of the three items needed to open the gates to Atlantis) by scaring the businessman Alain Trottier in Monaco; flying with Sophia Hapwood to Algiers; trading with Omar the shopkeeper in the back alley for a spittoon; trading the spittoon with the grocer for a squab (after several attempts to trade other items); giving the squab to the beggar in exchange for an all-day balloon flight pass; and piloting the balloon not to the nomad camp (for I was unable to do so) but to the middle of the desert, I am completely stuck to the point where I must restart; the game autosaved at that point.
Can anyone help? Thank you.
Jim

Jim, It looks like you selected the "wits" path (not the "team" path). Check this walkthrough to see the difference. In the wits part you do trading and landing in the desert.

I give up. I restarted the game and now find that in the beginning of the game, I can't get to the tree in the jungle I need to climb to get to Sternhart. I keep either going in and out of caves or not moving at all. Since I cannot beat games even with walkthroughs, maybe I should just stop playing.

I have several very good walkthroughs for this game, Jim196347. And if you would like them, I could "zip" them to you. Cheers. Mad

OK, Jim196347 I've zipped the files and sent them to the email address you show in your profile here at Gameboomers. Please let me know if/when they arrive. Cheers. Mad
