Good timing, zookeeper. I took the liberty of changing your post title. I had mentioned in the Adventure Games discussion forum that it might be a good idea to post the minimum and recommended system specs for Obduction down here in Glitches. Although other adventure games have been increasing the required system specs, Obduction has really pushed the limits of what most adventure gamers are used to for playing these games. If your system does not meet these minimum specs - and preferably the recommended specs - you will have wasted your money on this game. We gamers are an odd lot - I am quite guilty of building a new computer so that I could play Witcher 2! So, if you want to play Obduction, you may have to rethink what your computer is capable of. To put it in a nutshell, a laptop with a video chip integrated into the motherboard or the CPU is not going to cut it with this game. Read these system specs carefully for your Windows or Mac computer before you purchase. Minimum and Recommended System Requirements for Obduction I don't know how reliable this is, but you can always have the website "Can I run it" check your system for you. Can I Run It

Hi Zookeeper-I have a Intel i3 processor, 8KB RAM, Nvidia GTX950. Obduction runs perfectly, no lags, loading does take around 2 minutes but once in the game-no problems. I also have integrated graphics which I presume is used to run background stuff? If your monitor is plugged into the GTX950, you're not using the integrated graphics. I assume you're using a desktop because Nvidia card names for laptops have an "M" after them. It would be helpful to know what your settings are in the game options.

Thanks Draclvr, I ran Can I Run It and my video card passed which I knew it would since it's just over the minimum requirement, but I'm wondering how it will perform since it's nowhere close to the recommended specs. It's probably moot though since I failed the cpu specs. Minimum requires an i5 processor. I have an i7. I don't understand why that didn't pass????? Everything else meets recommended requirements so that's good. Maybe it's time to look at replacing this laptop. I've never really liked it that much anyway. Thanks for chiming in Upsy. Now I'm wondering if my failed i7 cpu would be a problem at all if you run fine with an i3.

It's probably moot though since I failed the cpu specs. Minimum requires an i5 processor. I have an i7. I don't understand why that didn't pass????? An i7 is better than an i5. People are certainly running Obduction with an i7. This sounds like a failure in how they set up "Can I Run It" for Obduction -- they missed the "or better" part.

I would definitely run that "can I run it" again and see what it says. There is no reason even an older Core i7 wouldn't be good enough. It said my Core i5 was good enough too.

Here's what Can I Run It said about the cpu and called it a fail
Minimum: CPU Intel i5-2500 equivalent or better You Have: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz

When I put the two CPUs side by side in CPU Boss to compare, it says the Core i5 2500 is 3.3 GHtz. Your Core i7 is only a 2.4 GHtz. Although most older Core i7 CPUs would exceed this requirement, yours is a mobile version which obviously is lower powered.
So, I guess it's iffy if you can play it although your video card meets specs. It might work if you lowered some of the visual effects.

Hi Jenny, for your info my settings are: Resolution-1920 x 1080, Anti-Aliasing-High, Post Processing, Shadows, Textures, Effects and Water-all Medium, Foliage-Low. These were optimised in Nvida Experience. Just out of curiosity, I put all settings on High, game still plays Ok, but the image is a little bit blurry. My CPU 4360 i3 is 3.70 GHtz. Hope this helps.
PS yes, I am using a desktop PC.

If your system does not meet these minimum specs - and preferably the recommended specs - you will have wasted your money on this game. Pity Cyan didn't tell us that we'd need a super-computer to run Obduction before we put our money into Kickstarter! My current machine runs the game, but on low settings and jerkily. I'm sure such a high spec is not really necessary for an adventure game. It seems I will have to put Obduction to one side until I get round to replacing my current PC! Elen

But they did make the computer specs known from the very beginning. The days of low computer specs even for adventure games have been long gone including with some of the Nancy Drew games and one of the recent Sherlock Holmes games. It would behoove everyone buying games these days to check out the system specs first. And if you have a laptop that isn't a gaming computer, then you doubly sure need to check what the new games require.

My laptop is a gaming laptop. It's around 3 years old and was pretty high end when I bought it. I can't believe it's nearly obsolete for as much as I spent on it. The gaming laptop I had prior to my this one lasted me about 8 years. I actually still use it, just not for games.
I might give Obduction a shot. I guess if it doesn't play I can always come back to it when I get a better laptop someday. I've looked around and just since the last time I shopped laptops there are some new things. Like, what the heck are m.2 cards???

Draclvr, thanks for the "Can I Run IT" link. I downloaded it and found that even my new WINDOWS 10 PC doen't have enough RAM to run this game as is. Looks like I won't be buying this game unless I do some upgrading, which I WON'T be doing just to run one game.. Sandy
BTW, it would be "nice" if the developer of "Obducion" would put out a working DEMO of their game so we could all test it before we purchase it, just to see if it WILL run on our various devices, but I really think they WON'T. This is my "not so humble" opinion, of course. LOL

Thought I'd jump back in here to say I went ahead and gave Obduction a try and it runs great so far. Unless I run into something in the game that requires more power from my cpu that is. I can always adjust the settings though. I started the game at the default settings. Anyway, so far so good!

Hi Boomers, Since I'm a "MYST-A-HOLIC", I'd like very much to purchase and play this game, however, Thanks to Draclvr, I ran that "Can I Run It",program and my PC failed some of the tests. SO, I decided to contact both the developer (CYAN), and also GOG Support, giving them the specs of my computer.I'm eagerly waiting for their replies, so I will keep you all posted as to the results of my inquieries. Sandy
Just got a reply back from CYAN. Looks like my PC will NOT meet the Minimum requirements to run this game.
PC Recommended
OS Version - Windows 10 64 bit Processor - CPU Intel i5-4590 equivalent or better Memory - 16GB+ RAM Graphics - NVIDIA GTX 970 w/4 GB / AMD R9 290 w/4 GB equivalent or better Network - Broadband Internet not required Disk Space: 20 GB Additional Notes : DirectX 11 (not 12) required. SSD highly recommended. Note: Includes min/recommended spec for VR.
My PC only has 6GB of Ram, and I have DIRECTX 12. So much for that.

Those are the "Recommended" requirements you quoted, not the minimum. The minimum look like this... PC Minimum OS Version - Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer Processor - CPU Intel i5-2500 equivalent or better Memory - 8GB+ RAM Graphics - GeForce 660 GTX w/1GB / AMD 7700 series w/1GB equivalent or better Network - Broadband Internet not required
Disk Space: 20 GB Additional Notes : DirectX 11 (not 12) required. Those specs are from http://support.cyan.com/kb_article.php?ref=4528-WDZN-6856RAM is pretty easy to add. You just have to get the right type for your motherboard. If the motherboard can take 6GB, it should be able to take 8GB (I assume you have a desktop. Not sure about a laptop.) The DirectX version shouldn't be a problem. More important is whether your processor and graphics card qualify. If the memory is the only problem, I'd recommend getting more memory. But if you'd have to upgrade a bunch of other stuff as well, maybe you're better off waiting.

Sanford-look on the Steam website, Yesterdays Origins is listed there for release in October, specs are there too. Much less than Obduction. OS: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 Processor: AMD /Intel quad-core processor running at 2.2 GHz Memory: 2048 MB RAM Graphics: ATI/NVIDIA dedicated/integrated or mobile graphic card, with at least 512MB of dedicated VRAM and with at least Shader Model 4.0 support DirectX: Version 9.0 Storage: 4 GB available space

Thanks Upsydaisy, i'll take a look at it now on Steam. I loved all the previous games from that developer, so I'm sure that I won't be disappointed by the new one. Sandy OK, I pre-ordered "Yesterday Origins" from STEAM. I'm crossing my fingers in the hopes this game works for me. The release date is Oct. 13
