I,am trying to open the door with the remote control. My click is the number 5 but when I try the other numbers the only thing that I get ia clunk.

Please help me

The code has 4 numbers.
- find the first positive-click one. You say it is #5.
- find the others by starting over. Click your #5 and then try other numbers to get second positive one.
- go from there by starting over: 5 - second positive click - third positive click and so on.
- you have to always start with the numbers you know are correct and the correct order until you get all 4.

Hi Boomers, I actually found this free game on a legitimate website. Downloaded and installed it, and I'm playing it now.
Thanks for your hints on that numbers puzzle, Mag. I'm sure I will need that info when I get to that part of the game. BTW, I also downloaded Mag's walkthruugh which is always a BIG help to me, thanks to YOU, Mag.

I'm not sure but maybe you should pull back from the puzzle after a failed attempt with 4 letters. I can't recall if there is a reset.

Mag, Thank you. There is an option that says (mash all the buttons at once)but when I try this option he says nothing will happen. I feel so lost in this puzzle

Ah this was a great game. So long since I played it though... it's a real pity that so few SLUDGE games got finished, thought Squinky's games were good.

I played this game again not too long ago. Are you talking about getting in the door in the basement? You have to hear a click and try another number than - or the same number. I had to start out with 3 and then 3 again and I kept pushing buttons until I heard another click. then I would start out with the same buttons that I heard a click with until I got the last click. I don't know if this makes sense, but, just listen for the click - not the clunk.

It looks like you have to click on the first number twice and go on from there till the next click. I'm playing this game right now, and I know your explanation may be the key to completing this puzzle. I'm not up to this part in the game, but I thank you, and I'll let you know if this solution works for me.

no, not necessarily. After I hit the first number that had a click, I would try other numbers and keep going until I had another click. so, since you need 4 numbers, if all the other numbers were clunks, I would try that same number again. Once you have 2 numbers that have clicks, keep trying all the numbers until you can get 3 in a row with clicks.... It is just a matter of weaning down the choices.

OK, looks like I'm going to have some "fun" with THIS puzzle, when I eventually get to that part of the game. Thank you very much for your input, mbday630. I'll keep you posted.

Yesterday I tried for an hour to hear a second click pushing all the numbers but nothing happened, propably this is the solution to click the first click two times I will try it and finally to solve it.

I LOVED this game! He reminds me of the guy in 'Hitchiker's Guide...' with his robe and towel. Very well done. Haven't played it in a while though.

Finally, I did it, the second number was 5 as was the first one so the rest is history, Thank you for your kind help. I just love this game

Again,I need your help again. I'm at the part where Hurford is a prisoner in his own room and the guard is outside his door.i'm supposed to be picking the guards pocket when our hero clicks on the door and the guard's back is facing Hurford. In Mag's WT, it states: "Use the door and see the guard's back is turned away from you. Puickly select the pick up icon and move the icon the same level a little to the left as that of the table and on Hurford to pick the guards pocket. when successful, Hurford will say "GOT IT" (meaning he has gotten an ID card). WHEW! Well, For some reason, I am unable to pick up that ID card.
i'd appreciate some help with this from any of you Boomers who have played this game.
BTW: I DID do the "Remote Combination puzzle" successfully as discussed in this thread, thanks to your help.

Sanford, when his back is to you, put your cursor on pick up and keep moving it over his pants. pretty soon you will see the icon that says something like pick up something from his pants. It is pretty hard to see but sooner or later you will see it. Keep trying.
