I have an old lifetime Pro license and I also heard about the anti-exploit being included. I hadn't read that it was described as anti-virus now. I'll have to read up on it.

thank you. i went and downloaded it, but it doesn't stop running. it is scanning and gets to a certain spot and just keeps saying its scanning, i left it going all night last night and it was the same this morning when i got up.am going to uninstall it and reinstall to see if it does the same. if it does then not sure what to do.
well i gave up on it finishing , it would only get so far and then just kept scanning on the same thing for over an hour. wit hthis being only the trial version , i need to find something that is free and i don't have to worry about expiring after so many days. i know i had this on my other laptop and it worked fine .

This doesn't expire - ever. Make sure you decline the trial offer of the Pro version.
I don't know why it won't complete a scan though. Almost sounds like you might have some malware that is blocking it. Have you run a scan with your antivirus software too?

There's your problem. McAfee is fighting with MalwareBytes so it can't finish its scan. You aren't supposed to run two antivirus with "real time scanning" at the same time because they will fight with each other.

The older versions of Malwarebytes were made to run in real time right along with your anti-virus. I believe the new Malwarebytes 3.0 is supposed to be an anti-virus replacement. However, this is from the Malwarebytes website... I am running Malwarebytes 3.0 alongside my anti-virus with no problems. But it's also not McAfee. Can I still run Malwarebytes alongside my Symantec, McAfee, etc.? Certainly! We built Malwarebytes 3.0 to be compatible with all major antivirus software, even Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials. I'd do what Jenny said and see if it finishes. There are still questions out there about this new version running along regular anti-virus programs. When you downloaded it, did it give you the option to NOT enable the free trial of Malwarebytes 3.0? If you declined, that should give you the version which does not run in real time and that one should run with your anti-virus.

Indeed... we had another individual referring to Malwarebytes as "malware" and it was very difficult to give out accurate information when someone was using incorrect terminology.
I had hoped there would be something to refuse the "free trial" and just download the Malwarebytes scanner. I would still do what Jenny suggested earlier... don't add an exception for Malwarebytes to McAfee. Just disable McAfee while you run a scan.

It's easy to do when you're typing away! Some people just use the MWB abbreviation to make it distinct from the word malware which means the bad stuff.
Any luck with disabling McAfee?

sorry i didn't realize i was doing that. I hope I didn't sound too harsh, but back when I was a newbie this sort of thing caused me no end of confusion. Of course back then it was more apt to be people being proud to announce they'd installed "adware" when they meant Ad-Aware (a program that removed adware).
