Margaret,
After you finish an Age, you must link back to pedestal #1 of that Age (the one that will have several links to the other pedestals in that Age), then click the center link to Direbo, then from Direbo, use the book on a stand outside of the bubble to link back to the Great Shaft. There are four different chambers at different levels of the shaft, each of which have linking books to different Ages. Find the next one.
Have fun,

VHL -- the Limited Edition comes with the Prima Strategy Guide (miniature version).
I'm taking my time and experimenting with the slate. Why oh why didn't I take art lessons at some point in my life? Sometimes I'm not sure if the Bahro is scratching his head in puzzlement because I've written the wrong symbol or if I've written the right one, but badly.
I like the fact that, once used correctly, the symbol gets inputted into the slate and you can just click to use it again.
I've made steam come out of those hut things, and fire out of the one with the map in it. I'm not sure what to do with it yet, and I can't actually see where the fire is generated from -- there must be a stove or something up top in that hut.
I've found that, using the Advanced mode, I can move around more freely, get closer to things and even around certain things that I couldn't before.
This is a great game. I've just started it, and I'm already regretting that it's going to end.

Well...it's seems I'm having one of my "senior-moments" again..!!
I have been able to get the junction valves set...but then...I don't have a clue what I am supposed to do after that.
When I go and look at the "grid"...it is bubbling. Now what..? It seems my slate disappears...and...when I go to retrieve it (from wherever)...the valves reset.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Dawna, They didn't reset. If you look closely you'll see that there is a faint indication that although the valves recessed down to their lower position, they are still diverted as you left them. It's a little hard to see because the position is very faint.
In any case, since the "heat" command that created the bubbly growth on the pond only lasts for 90 seconds, see if you can get across the path within that time. Set off the HEAT again, pick up the slate and start down the center path that goes to the right and then back and toward the center. You have to get off of the path on that middle, slightly raised snowy peninsula. If you fall off the bubbly growth, you will not be able to cross; in fact, depending on where you fall off you may be stuck until the HEAT stops. Then you'll have to go back and try the HEAT again.
But you won't have to fool with the valves again once they are set.
Enjoy!

I'm s-o-o-o far behind you guys. I am in a red planet room in the beginning of the game (I think) and there are 4 switches with different quarters of the moon (I think) . Any hints??? Quite frankly, haven't a clue as to exactly where I am. Thanks in advance.

That place is Todelmer, rockingjranch. I know there is a general Todelmer thread somewhere..will try to find it and bump for you. You won't find too much help in this Tahgira thread for Todelmer I don't think. PS. Hint: turning on the power first is always a good thing to do in Myst

Hey, thanks you guys!! I knew it started with a "T" and that you guys would help set me straight. Okay, I will try turning on the power. You can also stick me in the right thread. By the way if there is any particular order that the game should be played in and I am in the wrong pew let me know. I don't mind starting over if I have to.

I have a big problem. I'm in the Toldemer Age, have completed everything and now I have to go back to the control room and set the last coordinates so the Bahro can do his job, but I can't get all the way down stairs because the cable is blocking my way again. Can anybody tell me what I need to do?
Sorry, posted this to the wrong forum.

Sorry, posted this to the wrong forum. hmm, so you got the last set of co-ordinates by taking the tram I am presuming?.. did you come over to the first tower on the tram too? If you did, just go back on the tram to the other tower and pedestal, and link back to the bubble pedestal on the first tower.

I pulled the lever on the tram, but it won't move. There must be something I'm not doing right.

Hi, Click on the symbol on the bottom left of the slate that has 2 diaganal lines through it. That will erase the slate.
