In this cyberpunk, film noir, dystopian sci-fi adventure, you play as Tex Murphy, a typical 1940's gumshoe detective. Except, it's the 2050's. A post apocalyptic world has risen from the ashes of World War III and stands divided. New San Francisco sits atop the rubble of the old city. It's a city of glitz and glamour hiding a sinister undertone: a population segregated between those immune to the nuclear fallout (Norms) and those less fortunate (Mutants). Just outside the new city lies Old San Francisco, a vastly ignored reminder of a dark past, and home to the mutant population, and Tex himself.
In this latest adventure, the year is 2051. Shortly after the events of Tesla Effect (the 2014 adventure title) Tex Murphy (Chris Jones), with the guidance of St. Germaine (Jason Tatom), must revisit some of his most gripping cases in order to decipher his true past, and prepare him for an uncertain future. Isnt this just a repolished version over Overseer? My understanding now is that it will be in some ways a reworking of Overseer but that they are adding much more to the game, as well. I think the project has become larger and more ambitious over time.

Isnt this just a repolished version over Overseer? The Poisoned Pawn was never "just" a repolished version of Overseer. Right from the beginning we enhanced gameplay and expanded locations. With the support from BFG now, it becomes the offical successor to Tesla Effect, being Act 1 of the grand finale, including a new wrapper story and new fmv content. While we are revisiting various aspects of Tex’s past (with a primary focus on Overseer), this story takes place in 2050, right after the events of Tesla Effect, and explores some of the most iconic moments from Tex’s previous cases in a whole new light. This is to prepare both players and Tex himself for the big finale. Nothing in the Tex Murphy universe (since the events of Mean Streets) has been an accident. It sounds great. If this will be Act 1 of the grand finale, any idea how many games there might be after The Poisoned Pawn?
