Amazon Queen HERE go to the download section. Now, YOU can finally get to play this game, which by all accounts is infuriating and almost impossible to get to work these days on any computer. Works just fine, right out of the box so to speak, with the ScummVM though.

Hi If it's a "legit." download then that's really good news for people who've been after this game for ages !! [I have the original release and it works fine just installed in DOS. I don't have any ScummVM stuff.] Cheers. Mad

I do believe it is "legit".
I have the original too, but I can't get it to work at all, and I gather many people have trouble with it - I couldn't even get it to work when I bought it 6 years ago.

Hi again I now play it in the DOS that comes with Win.98. And when I first got it, I played it in the DOS that came with Win.95. It doesn't need EMS as far as I know but I think my son in law did do some Upper and Lower memory tweaking stuff (if those are the correct terms ??) so I just leave it permanently installed as he doesn't live nearby any more to do any re-tweakin' Cheers. Under release binaries, get the Windows Installer, the top one.
That should do it - then you load up ScummVM, and ADD GAME, navigate to the place where you unzipped the FOTAQ file, select that. Then when you go back in ScummVM, the game should be displayed and you click it and PLAY!!! Woohoo!!!

It's legal. The developers released the code to the Scummm engine people. Similar to the way Revolution made Beneath A Steel sky available and released Lure of the Temptress as freeware. It's great to see some developers who knowing their game isn't available for retail purchase - make it available to gamers.

I downloaded the ScummVM stuff, Flight of the Amazon Queen, and Beneath a Steel Sky. I've only played a few hours, but so far not a single glitch.
To the ScummVM folks and the original game developers that have been so generous, I say THANK YOU! After seeing a review at Mr. Bill's, Flight of the Amazon Queen has been at the top of my BAAG list for years. I was fortunate to get BASS in a "Complete Revolution" package from Software First several years ago (before they went under), and look forward to seeing how this latest version compares. The original had a few bugs and crash problems under Win98.
This is worth a look folks. I know these are some hefty downloads if you don't have broadband, but hey, the price is right. Free!

Yes, the people behind SCUMMVM are awesome!
I bought FotAQ on Ebay a few months ago, but oh well. It's great it's developers have agreed to make it freeware!

Just a quick question from a computer dummy. I have the game FOAQ but could never get it to run despite the kind and generous help of GBs. If I downloaded this SCUMM thing, could I play the game off my disks? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />

That's the beauty of the ScummVM people - it JUST WORKS - so, there's no need to use your own disks.
You can always get the non-talkie version of you're on dialup - this is quite a bit smaller - 6.7MB - should take you about 30 minutes.

Been trying to play this one for 2 years now (a friend sent it to me for a gift) and couldn't get it to run, trying I don't know how many DOS configurations (Win 98 SE, usually can handle most games). Yesterday I downloaded the latest version of Scummvm and FOTAQ and it ran perfectly!!! Thanks for the info Derman!!! Happy Gaming All!!! Bill

You have to download the new one Jasper. Just install it to the same directory you had the older version. then download FOTAQ from the site unless you already have the disks.

Glynn - once you download the Amazon Queen file, unzip it to a new folder somewhere.
Then you fire up ScummVM, and select ADD GAME - then navigate to the place you unzipped the Amaon Queen file, and select that.
Then, go back to the main ScummVM screen, and Amazon Queen should be listed - click it, and START.

A through F are your drives - double click whichever drive has the Amazon Queen file, probably C, then keep double clicking the folders on that drive until you get to the file, then click CHOOSE.
Then, at the first ScummVM screen, you should be able to select "Flight of the Amazon Queen" and click START, and well, start.
Hope you get there.
