This fix for the flickering problem in Kheops games was discovered by Iurii, who posted information about the fix in ***this thread***The fix has been tested as working with Nostradamus, Secrets of Da Vinci, Dracula 3, Safecracker, and Cleopatra: A Queen's Destiny. It seems to help with both disc and download versions for those Kheops games that get the flicker. More information about the fix... Jenny100, the last fix, in difference from the first one, has nothing to do with (especially) Russian versions of the games, - it is a universal solution! As for how it works - as far as I know, the reason for the flicker is the incompatibility of (some) Kheops games with later (in relation to their release dates) versions of DirectX 9.0c. Kheops blamed Microsoft, and Microsoft blamed Kheops, but somehow neither had done anything about it. And the fix is just an 'alternative' version of DirectX 9 libraries made for Wine project in order to run Windows games in other OSes like Linux or ReactOS. Luckily for us, it works even in Windows proper  Thanks to a person from Russian forum who told me it could help! The wined3d.rar file extracts to three files, which need to be placed in the game folder: d3d9.dll d3dwine.dll wined3dcfg.cpl EDIT -- If anyone has trouble downloading from Google Drive, there's an alternate link ***here***. It's the same file as was on Google Drive though. The file is 515.9 kb in size -- very small.

Hi Boomers,
I bought "Cleopatra A Queen's Destiny" from BigFish today, installed it, then
tried to run it, and all I got was a BLACK screen, but with sound, so I went to Their support team with my complaint,filed a report, and I've been waiting for a reply. So far The only mail that I received was a confirmation that they had received my message. HOWEVER, I remembered reading THIS thread, so I downloaded the "fix" file. I extracted the 3 enclosed files, copied them to the game folder, and the game is now running well. I even mailed the FIX file, as an attachment, and a brief explanations on how to install the "FIX"
to Bigfish Support.
I can hardly wait for their reply. LOL Thank you Iurii and Jenny.

I DID get a reply from Bigfish, telling me that they are very glad that I got their game working for me.
They also thanked me for sending me that "fix", which makes me feel very good.

This Fix works on several Kheops Games, Even with the black screen but on some games like Voyage journey to the moon and the first Return to Mysterious Island on windows 8 it gives me an error which says Error: Access Violation at 0x774F234D (tried to read from 0x000000080) program terminated. The fix is not meant for Return to Mysterious Island or Voyage: Journey to the Moon. From Iurii's post #1120024 here http://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1141025/2All the newer titles are affected: "The Secret of Da Vinci", "Nostradamus", "Return to Mysterious Island 2", "Treasure Island", "Cleopatra", "Dracula 3" and "Safecracker".
Older games run fine: "Return to Mysterious Island", "Egypt 3", "Echo: The Lost Cavern" and "Journey to the Moon". So don't use the "fix" with Return to Mysterious Island, Egypt 3, Echo: Secrets of the Lost Cavern, or Voyage: Journey to the Moon." If you've installed the fix with one of these four games, uninstall the game, delete the game folder and all contents, and reinstall the game.
