For me it's years. "Blade Runner" may have been running on the spot for three years so far.
Some I could plead I'm waiting for a rainy afternoon. Some others I need to admit to myself I'm not likely to ever play them and find them better homes.

Don't feel bad, Peter....I too have Blade Runner sitting unplayed for a couple of years now. I even have the big Strategy Guide. I have so many unplayed games & it seems that if I don't play them pretty much right after acquiring them, they gather dust. I have a nice collection of dust. Love, Jen

Syd sneaks in to whisper Lost in Time has been sitting patiently since 1993 keeping company with DreamWeb from '94, Kingdom 1: Far Reaches from '95 and a bunch from '96 (it appears '96 was a good year for buying and storing games) I'll go quietly now Dee and Laura - really I will and I won't make a fuss at all

I've only been playing for 1.5 years and have managed to amass 23 unplayed games so far, so the oldest one is Zork Inquisitor, from 04/02 -I'd keep reading about this or that fantastic game and collect it when I got a chance for fear it wouldn't be available again. So now have made a pact with myself not to buy any more until the pile goes down some more.
The last game i bought was....let's see-oh yes, the time in Office Max 3 months ago when I spotted TR Cronicles for 9.99-I really went in there to do some zeroxing.
That's the BAAGs syndrome-you have to buy it because there probably won't be another chance and when you really want it -gone, nowhere to be found!
Which leads to the CD (collecting dust) syndrome because there's always another game that you want to buy instead of the ones you already have so you play it(hopefully) instead of one thats CD.The worst pile-ups occur when you buy another 3or 4 games before you get a chance to play that one, ect. ect.
We're all NUTS! But ain't it fun!
People do not remember how much you know, only how you make them feel finished Gray Matter, playing Alice Madness returns and Deponia

Probably the oldest unplayed acquisitions in my official game dresser drawer are Monkey Island Madness (1 & 2) and Kyrandia 2. I played MI 3 and 4, and I played Kyrandia 1, so that makes sense to play the others. Just won't get to them for 20 years or so. I too, have made pacts with myself to stop buying until the pile goes down. In fact I do it every several months, when I look up at the towering pile of games and I can no longer reach the game at the top. But I always break my pact when promising games come out.

I have had Blade Runner and Anachronox on my shelf for it seems like forever. I also have Of Light and Darkness which I did load once, took off immediately, and will probably never install again.

My unopened boxes start from early 1999, before that I at least made time to open each one and load it to be sure it played. Then they started piling up faster than I could check them out, of course I had joined GAMEBOOMERS, what else???? Haven't finished a game since Amerzone a few months ago, working on a couple, but very slow. Like that other thread, too much time reading, & reading GB and posting.

Wow...let's see...Atlantis II has sat on the shelf for over 2 years now...I think it's the "old-timer." Also still "parking" are: Tomb Raider, Normality, Dust: Tales of the Wired West, Jack Orlando Director's Cut, and oh heavens...now that I look at my shelves, I don't think I could list them all without contracting carpal tunnel syndrome.
Guess I need to spend less time reading and typing in this forum and more time playing, huh? Gee...but y'all are so much fun...you're almost like a game yourselves! (With less inventory, but almost as much puzzle solving at times!):-)
PLAYING ON PC: World of Warcraft...nothing else...there is no need for ANY other game when you have THIS one to play!! LOL

I can't last more than a week without starting a game. if a game lasts a week on my shelf it is not a good sign.
It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Aha! A trick question.
I have at least four games sitting on the shelf uncompleted. All, BA2 and TLJ being two, came to a screaching halt due to techincal difficulties that await various system upgrades. Maybe I will get to them eventually. Maybe not.
I recall many games that I never finished because, after a few minutes/hours, I said this one is not for me. I don't like it.
What I don't recall is every purchasing a game, and then never giving it an install or a cursory play.
For whom the games toll. They toll for thee.
