Warning: Similar to the Witcher franchise, CD PR has incorporated the grittier elements of humanity into this storyline. Being that the genre is a Cyberpunk RPG in the requisite dystopian environment, it's even grittier that usual. So, expect violence, gore, harsh language and occasional nudity. That said, the game looks amazing. This nearly 50 minute game play demo really gives you a great view of the action, combat mechanics, physics and amazing environmental graphics. Some might associate this with an FPS due to liberal use of modern weapons, but this definitely has all the features of a true RPG including character backstory choices, character classes/alignments, a detailed character development tree and party development options. Additionally, as mentioned in the video, they draw their inspiration from the original pen and paper Cyberpunk games of the late 1980's; Cyberpunk 2013 and Cyberpunk 2020. Cyberpunk 2077 is essentially the spiritual successor to that gaming system brought into the next gen gaming world. Cyberpunk 2077 Game Play Video

Oh boy, another game to look forward to.
Saaayyyy, isn't 2077 the date the bombs fell in the Fallout Universe? Why yes, indeedy it is (I'm playing Fallout 3 right now so my poor old brain can actually remember). I wonder if that's an homage to Fallout?
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

So Cyberpunk, being both a sub-genre of games and science fiction literature creates connections in these types of games. As a result, games that stay true to the source material of the original literature will have a lot of similarities. As I understand it, Cyberpunk 2077 will be closer to the the tech-heavy part of the literary genre, which makes sense due to the creative input by Mike Pondsmith who was the creator of Cyberpunk 2013 and 2020. There's more focus on the technology as a big part of the plot. Dues Ex approached it a little differently, the "upgrades" were more tools that operated within the main (and excellent) storyline. I get the feeling that 2077 will be an action packed RPG romp with tons of available toys and implant modification to improve your character and party members.

Sounds fantastic, really. I have to cut down on random game purchases (just because some of them are doomed to never be played) but I think this one will do nicely, thanks!

Sounds fantastic, really. I have to cut down on random game purchases (just because some of them are doomed to never be played) but I think this one will do nicely, thanks! Yeah, me too. I've got a ton of games to play, but I keep falling back on old favorites (cough...Skyrim...cough) My weakness are collector's versions, which are going to bankrupt me! I've already started scanning for pre-purchases for this game's version. CD PR already confirmed that they will have one, if the suppliers of the goodies are quality enough. I'm bummed that I couldn't make it to E3 this year, they gave away a statue (for free!) of the cyborg woman from the original teaser/trailer. Ah, will my weakness for game swag never be abated.

In case anyone is into group pen and paper gaming, the original Cyberpunk system is still being published by R.Talsorian Games They are currently sold out of Cyberpunk 2020, but a new print should be coming out in a few weeks.
