Hello my Boomer friends, hope you are all well and having a great day! I had my operation and was in hospital for 2 weeks. I have been home for a week. The time spent in hospital was taken up with physio from day 2 after op, and learning how to get used to being in a wheelchair full time. This included learning how to safely transfer from chair to bed, toilet etc. At the moment I am housebound due to the fact that we are waiting for an outside ramp to be fitted. Any hospital/doctor appts require transport by ambulance for now, but some great news too! I have an appt on 30th of this month to be fitted for my prosthetic, I thought I would have to wait much longer! As you can imagine, I'm vey excited about this. Life has become very challenging for me and my family but I will fight to get through whatever comes my way. There is one more thing. My other leg is also compromised by femoral arterial blockage and a gangrenous ulcer on my heel although this is not as bad as my other heel was. I have a clinic appt on 1st November with my consultant surgeon to discuss my options, all of which will require surgical intervention of some kind. There's a possibility of another amputation, but please God it won't come to that. I am trying hard to remain positive. Please keep me in your prayers, dear Boomers! Much love to you all. Mary

Such good news, even if it is tempered by some issues with your other leg. Ana is right in that your attitude will play a huge part in your recovery. My brother-in-law ended up having his other leg removed about 2 years after the first one. But by then he had learned to navigate well with his prosthesis. He was able to get around by himself and drove himself to doctor's appts and lunch with the guys and picking up the grandkids from the bus stop. You will be kicking some hiney and getting around like a pro in no time!
